Unprecedented Visibility into the Customer Acquisition Journey with Datameer's Multi-Channel Marketing Analytics Application
Disparate Data Combined in Minutes for Complete View into Top Performing Campaigns that Accelerate Customer Acquisition
SAN FRANCISCO, June 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Datameer, the only proven big data insights platform for rapid data discovery, today announced its Multi-channel Marketing Analytics application, the first in a series of pre-built enterprise applications geared toward helping executives directly and easily discover big data insights.
One of the biggest challenges facing marketing teams today is understanding which digital and marketing campaigns and channels have the greatest impact on customer acquisition. Traditional marketers use integrated campaigns across multiple channels for customer acquisition - from digital ads, social media, mobile apps, and marketing automation to Web analytics and CRM. However, the impact of these campaigns is often analyzed in silos using separate tools. Data is fragmented and a considerable amount of effort is spent trying to piece together an end-to-end picture of the lead-to-customer journey.
Now, marketers can integrate all of their data from all digital and marketing campaigns across every channel to truly understand the behavior of leads that convert to customers. The Datameer Multi-Channel Marketing Analytics application provides executives and business analysts with four key insights that accelerate customer acquisition:
-- Where high quality leads come from
-- What combination of campaigns convert leads to customers
-- What assets are the most effective in influencing those conversions
-- What the conversion speed and effectiveness is of both campaigns and
assets
"There is a growing and urgent need for marketers to understand which combinations of programs, tactics and lead sources drive greater performance in customer acquisition" said Jason Hekl, vice president and group director at SiriusDecisions. "Armed with these insights, marketing and demand generation executives can continuously optimize lead sources, campaigns and assets to increase both conversion and velocity through the Demand Waterfall(TM)."
"Marketing executives have to become data-driven in order to be key drivers of customer acquisition for their companies," said Azita Martin, CMO of Datameer. "Datameer removes the barriers that are commonly encountered when using traditional marketing platforms and makes it incredibly easy to understand the lead to customer journey. Now, businesses can decipher and drill down into their lead to customer journey to increase conversion and accelerate revenue."
The Customer Journey
Datameer's Multi-channel Marketing Analytics application gives every marketer a comprehensive understanding of how leads interact with a company's marketing and digital campaigns in their buying journey before purchasing a product.
It seamlessly blends previously siloed and varied information from Salesforce, Marketo, Google Analytics, digital ads, and social media for complete visibility into which combination of campaigns convert leads into customers and at what cost and speed. Leveraging Datameer's 70+ pre-built connectors to a variety of databases and applications, users can further extend the capabilities of Datameer Multi-channel Marketing Analytics application and integrate and analyze even more customer interaction data from additional systems.
Lead-source & Campaign-type Drill Down
Furthermore, once business executives have identified the combination of the top performing lead sources and marketing campaigns that convert leads into customers, users can then drill down into those top-performing channels. For example, if website is a top channel in the customer journey, users can see the common path on the website visited by those leads that have become customers versus those that did not and optimize their website accordingly. They can also identify specific assets in that channel that have contributed the most to opportunities or closed deals and compare that among other assets by dollar value of deals, number of deals and conversion speed.
On-demand Dashboard
Datameer's application also delivers a unified on-demand dashboard that allows users to view performance of channels, campaigns and assets in a single view by deals, opportunities and leads. This provides a critical view of how to continuously fine tune customer campaigns, simplifying a generally manual and multi-faceted process that takes several hours a week and is often prepared in spreadsheets.
Lead progression allows users to analyze how fast leads can be converted into deals by median number of days as well as the number of opportunities created and deals closed during a specified time period. Data charts can be updated on-demand with a simple click so users can always get timely results.

Zhuhai CTC Launches Riverside Photocuring 3D Printers Worldwide
ZHUHAI, China, June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- With the growing popularity of desktop 3D printers, the inexpensive FDM version is currently the mainstream option of the market. However, a growing number of users are demanding 3D printers with a higher level of accuracy and optimized performance. In response to this trend, the desktop SLA 3D printer, based on laser irradiation liquid injection molding, is quickly becoming the preference among 3D printing professionals. The commonly used resin plate of existing equipment, such as the Form 1, is extremely vulnerable and the molding efficiency is low, which, to a large degree, have ruined user experience and held back buying. This new solution is providing an opportunity for a turnaround.
Zhuhai CTC Electronic Co., Ltd, a prominent China-based 3D printer manufacturer, has announced that the company will soon unveil the Riverside Photocuring 3D Printer equipped with a resin plate with the longest longevity to date at China (Qingdao) International Software Convergence & Innovation Expo 2015 in early July.
It will be the world's first high resolution 3D printer that is truly affordable for the ordinary user, with the price point set at USD1,480 in the U.S. and RMB13,800 in China, a price point quite a bit lower than that of MakerBot. Similar to other popular SLA printers, the printer uses a specially-made liquid resin that is sensitive to the 405nm UV wavelength and that can be shaped into a monolayer slice, and subsequently accumulated into a three-dimensional object.
As the printer is aimed at high usability, Riverside's minimum layer thickness is 0.1mm, rather thanthe 0.025mm commonly adopted by other printers. The designers are of the opinion that the excessively thin layer has little effect on the outer surface yet greatly prolongs the duration of the printing process as well aslowers the likely success of the printed output from 95% to less than 40%. When printing the maximum allowed size forthree-dimensional objects (135mm x 135mm x 180mm), the printer provides for highly refined detailing and a smooth surface! It is expected that the most commonly used material will be resin and the entire printing process can be executed quite quickly. Zhuhai CTC has stated that its software kit provides interfaces for most leading CAD software, enabling easy transition to printing after the molding. The entire printing process is expected to become as simple and convenient as printing out text on a piece of paper from an ordinary printer.
On the software side, Zhuhai CTC has developed slicing software and a high-performing operatingsystem based on open-source Cura Engine and Repetier Host in tandem with CTC Riverside proprietary firmware to control the laser and the scanning galvanometer mirror positioning system.
Riverside has not only reduced ownership cost, but also aggressively lowered the printing cost by revolutionizing the resin plate. A special thin film has replaced the transparent silica gel as the resin plate's medium. This special thin film can effectively separate curing resin and the base and can handle a much larger volume of printing before needing to be replaced. These revolutionary improvements extends the plate's service life from a mere dozen or so days to several months, greatly reducing the printing cost.
He Siyi, Head of Public Relations at CTC Electronic, said, "Our goal is to allow the designer to have access to an affordable and reliable tool and provide an all-new product-verification solution."
Riverside will be available in the U.S., China, the E.U. and Australia starting this July. The official distribution channel is http://www.ctcprinter.com. Clients can also purchase the printer through known E-business providers including eBay and Amazon.
HELLA Takes Leadership Role In Popular Driver-Assistance Systems
PLYMOUTH, Mich., June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- HELLA, a global leader in developing radar sensors that support driver assistance systems, is introducing a new generation of its 24GHz radar-based driver-assistance technology.
With production starting in June 2015 at HELLA's U.S. manufacturing plant in Flora, Ill., HELLA is launching their new generation 3.5 radar sensor system as a complement to its generation 3.0 system, which has been in production since last year.
In addition to blind spot detection, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert and rear pre-crash functionalities, which are already in series production, HELLA's new system adds a fifth function to the OEM's safety portfolio. The exit alert function is currently in pre-production status and ensures the safety of all road users; pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles when exiting the car.
"We have taken a scalable approach with our third generation driver-assistance products, giving automakers the flexibility to offer a variety of driver safety packages to their customers, depending on the vehicle segments involved," said HELLA's Robert Hurley, U.S. product line director for Driver Assistance Systems.
"Automotive safety systems based on the 24GHz narrow-band frequency can be used almost anywhere in the world and primarily support medium-range rearward-facing applications," Hurley added. "That's why this bandwidth produces good results for standard applications involving lane change assist, blind spot detection and exiting a parking spot."
He pointed out that HELLA's radar-based driver safety systems operating on the 24GHz frequency are developed in a cost effective manner, making advanced driver assistance systems more accessible for high volume vehicle segments and supporting global efforts to reduce the number of road traffic accidents.
HELLA, the European market leader for rear-radar systems, is also gaining share in North America with global demand for rear-radar applications forecasted to reach 11 million systems by 2019, compared to 4 million in 2014 (Strategy Analytics, May 2015). Since its first generation system was introduced in 2005, major updates have followed.
Hurley said the company also plans to introduce further updates in 2017 and 2018, adding a 24GHz radar system generation 4.0, followed by a 77GHz generation 5.0 that will provide functions in the front of the vehicle.
"We feel very good about the way our radar-based driver assist packages are being refined, expanded and improved by our engineers and research teams," Hurley said. "OEM and consumer acceptance of each new generation of radar-based, driver assist system tells us we are on the right track with safety technology."
A recently published J.D. Power & Associates study further supports the importance of safety-related driver-assistance features. The study found that three of the top five technologies consumers would most prefer in their next vehicle are related to collision protection.
The report says the technologies consumers express the most interest in having in their next vehicles are blind-spot detection, night vision, and enhanced collision-mitigation systems.
The only non-collision protection technologies cited were camera rearview mirror, which falls into the driving assistance category, and self-healing paint, a comfort and convenience category, the report said.

Toshiba Motor Driver IC For DC Brushed Motors Designed For Vehicle Engine Applications
New, small driver IC utilizes DMOS transistors as driver circuits, enabling highly efficient operation
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC)*, a committed leader that collaborates with technology companies to create breakthrough designs, today announced a small-sized motor driver IC for DC brushed motors used in vehicle engine applications such as electronic throttles and valve controls. The new TB9051FTG, housed in a small, flat 6mm x 6mm P-QFN28 package, employs double-diffused MOSFET (DMOS FET) transistors as driver circuits.
As with its recently announced line of DMOS FET transistor arrays, Toshiba selected DMOS FET devices for the TB9051FTG driver circuits. As these devices do not require base current biasing, they have virtually no input current, which lets them process high current density per device area with low on-resistance. This enables low output voltage drop - in turn, allowing the new motor driver IC to operate with a high degree of efficiency.
"These new motor driver ICs, due to their small size and underlying technology, have the flexibility to enable control of a range of automotive electronics - not only engine applications, which are the primary target, but also other on-board systems, such as wing mirrors and trunk locks, operating at up to 5 amps," said Deepak Mithani, senior director, Mixed-Signal Business Unit, System LSI Group at TAEC. "Moreover, because user safety is paramount, Toshiba has carried out a range of functional safety analyses to simulate various system failures, and we supply this documentation to our customers to further support their design-in process."
The new TB9051FTG motor driver IC features a single, H-bridge channel and ultra-low on-resistance of 0.34 ohm (H-side + L-side, max). Its two power supplies, VBAT and VCC, operate at 4.5V to 28V and 4.5V to 5.5V, respectively. Control functions include motor-related (forward, reverse, brake), as well as PWM control, current limit control, H-side current monitor, diagnosis output and power-on-reset (POR) circuit. Built-in detection circuits include over current, over heat, and low/high voltage.
Availability
Sample shipments will start in September 2015, with mass production scheduled to start in October 2016.

AlphaBetty Saga, a new word game
adventure from King (the makers of the Candy Crush
franchise and Farm Heroes Saga), now available
worldwide
---------------------------------------------------
Step aside Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, a new survey commissioned by King Digital Entertainment plc (NYSE: KING), to mark the launch of its new word game adventure AlphaBetty Saga, has identified an all-new top 10 list of the most difficult American cities to spell and just in time for summer travels. With millions of summer vacations currently being planned around the United States, travelers should pay extra attention to where they are searching to go as, on average, two-thirds of survey respondents misspelled our top 10 list.
Based on the results of a recent Ipsos survey, where participants were required to select from four spelling choices, the following 10 U.S. cities rose to the top of the list as the most difficult to spell. Below is the final list of U.S. cities ranked by the percentage misspelled:
1. Meeteetse, WY - Misspelled by 70% of respondents
2. Kaumalapau, HI - Misspelled by 69% of respondents
3. Saguache, CO - Misspelled by 68% of respondents
4. Skaneateles, NY - Misspelled by 67% of respondents
5. Champaign, IL - Misspelled by 63% of respondents
6. Pflugerville, TX - Misspelled by 63% of respondents
7. Worcester, MA - Misspelled by 62% of respondents
8. Ketchikan, AK - Misspelled by 61% of respondents
9. Winnemucca, NV - Misspelled by 60% of respondents
10. Aquebogue, NY - Misspelled by 56% of respondents
The survey also revealed that people living in states in the Northeast region out-spelled the South, Midwest and West when it came to correctly spelling the most difficult cities in their own region. For example, the majority of New Yorkers (58%) misspelled Skaneateles, NY. Additionally, cities in the West proved to be hardest to spell across all regions with just three in ten of all those surveyed correctly spelling cities in the West.
Survey results also indicated that growing up in the technology centered 21(st) century culture has not affected spelling skills as much as initially believed. Both Boomers (50-64 years old) and Millennials (18-34 years old) equally struggled to spell the top 10 most difficult cities. No matter which generation you're from, falling victim to geographical spelling errors is more common than not.
To ensure smooth summer travels this year, King is offering up a few quick and easy spelling tips:
-- Double check when booking travel - a flight from New York City to
Champaign, IL is roughly $2,400 cheaper to fly to than accidentally
booking a trip to the Champagne province in France
-- Don't rely on spellcheck - some travel sites do not correct misspellings
in searches - when heading to Hawaii, Kaumalapau may need to be typed a
few times to be sure
-- Read every day - whether a novel, a text book or go full on cartographer
and scan some maps
-- Practice makes perfect - test your spelling skills with word games like
AlphaBetty Saga to improve daily
AlphaBetty Saga is a new word game which requires players to go on a journey around the world to discover lost words and complete the "Encyclopedia of Everything." This vibrant word-based game requires players to connect adjacent letters to spell out words and score points, with more complex words rewarded with higher point scores. AlphaBetty Saga is available to download for free now on iOS and Google Android and on Facebook.

Philips Debuts Lumify, Its First App-Based Ultrasound Solution
Philips introduces new mobile, app-based approach to ultrasound delivery that brings secure cloud-enabled technology and high-image quality to broader network of healthcare providers
ANDOVER, Mass., June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) today announced the introduction of Lumify, its first App-Based Ultrasound solution that will extend the reach of ultrasound applications across the health continuum using mobile technology. Unveiled at this week's Social Media and Critical Care (SMACC) conference, taking place June 23-26, in Chicago, Ill., Philips' Lumify is an entirely new way of delivering ultrasound technology to healthcare providers and their patients. Lumify offers high-quality imaging on a compatible smart device through a subscription model. Philips' new ultrasound approach brings together mobile applications, advanced ultrasound transducer technology, integrated IT, training, education and support services to help healthcare providers improve care and reduce costs.
Already 510(k) cleared, the first-generation Lumify transducer will be commercially available in the U.S. later this year. This introduction will be followed by more ultrasound transducers, applications and services available through Philips' new app-based portal.
Lumify is designed for emergency departments and urgent care centers, as well as other clinical settings, and will operate from a compatible smart device connected to a Philips ultrasound transducer. Users will also have access to an online portal where they can manage their device and access Philips' support, training and IT services.
"Ultrasound's versatility, portability and safety enabled it to become one of the most widely used first-line diagnostic tools. With the advent of App-Based Ultrasound, we strive to bring the value and benefits of ultrasound to more places across the health continuum," said Vitor Rocha, CEO of Ultrasound, for Philips. "App-Based Ultrasound provides valuable information to the right people at the right time. It's designed to drive transformation in care delivery and digital health - a dynamic combination that can extend the reach of ultrasound in a remarkable way."
Cloud-enabled and tablet technology allows Lumify to offer users vast connectivity, flexibility and mobility. As a customized app-based solution, Lumify is designed to seamlessly integrate with patient profiles and a health system's equipment using cloud-enabled technology. Additionally, data will be accessible on the Philips HealthSuite Digital Platform, an open and secure, cloud-based IT infrastructure, allowing users and health systems access to powerful data and analytics to help improve patient care.
Lumify is part of Philips' App-Based Ultrasound ecosystem, an open innovation platform aimed to deliver the benefits of ultrasound early in the health continuum and expand access among more healthcare providers. App-Based Ultrasound can help healthcare providers guide diagnosis, treatment and management in ways that ultrasound isn't currently used. Built on a flexible subscription-based delivery model, users - healthcare providers and institutions - have access to and can manage solutions based on their changing demands and needs.
Central to App-Based Ultrasound's development and continued evolution is Philips' Ultrasound Consortium, launched last year to drive the creation of valuable applications. Consisting of experts from across the health continuum, the Consortium will explore ways to extend the reach of ultrasound applications into the hands of more healthcare providers as they guide patients from diagnosis to treatment and recovery. Working together and in parallel with customer insights, the Consortium will inform the next generation of App-Based Ultrasound.
"App-Based Ultrasound is a compelling vision, presenting healthcare professionals with a new way to provide on-demand point-of-care diagnostics in dynamic clinical environments," said J. Christian Fox, MD, RDMS, FAIUM. "In heavily trafficked, high-stress environments such as the emergency department, access to technology like App-Based Ultrasound that can promptly direct treatment is critical to both the provider and patient in achieving positive health outcomes."

Steam CC Introduces Ripples, A New Communications Platform That Turns Any Cappuccino Into A "Content Moment"
Hardware and Software Solution Creates Personalized Messages and Images onto Foam-Topped Coffee
Lufthansa First Global Brand to Offer "New Art of Coffee" in Passenger Lounges
NEW YORK, June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Steam CC, parent of Ripples(TM), the innovative IoT start-up that is transforming the premium coffee consumption experience with beautiful, artistic "foam prints" (each known as a Ripple) has debuted its concept in New York with launch partner Lufthansa. The Ripple Maker combines hardware and software to deliver a new communications platform that produces high-resolution designs and messages -- that are "Rippled" onto lattes, cappuccinos, or any foam-topped drink. See it in action http://bit.ly/1Lsn8R7
At the same time, the company announced that Lufthansa will be the first global brand to adopt the technology and bring this new medium to their customers. The Ripple Makers will be introduced in Lufthansa's First and Business Class lounges later this year.
Developed by award-winning industrial designers, the Ripple Maker works by combining patented 3D printer mechanics with Ink-Jet printing technologies using natural coffee extract, called Ripple Pods, to create the Ripples. Any venue that serves coffee - from coffee shops to cafes, restaurants, hotels, food service and events, as well as brands and marketers, will be able to take advantage of the opportunities for engagement, loyalty and emotional connection that Ripples provides.
Because the Ripple Maker is a connected device, the opportunities for creating content are infinite, ranging from inspirational messages and quotes, to messages about upcoming events, to personal birthday and other greetings. Any Ripples user can submit content to the open platform for consideration by the Ripples editors for addition to the platform.
Baristas can choose their Ripples from the extensive catalogue of designs and messages, or have their customers send a photo, personal image or message and send it to their Ripple Maker through the Ripple app. The image is printed on the coffee in less than 10 seconds, using nothing but 100% natural coffee extract.
Priced at $999, the Ripple Maker will be available to commercial establishments that serve coffee, and will be delivered with service plans starting at $75 per month. These flexible plans provide owners with Ripple Pods, operating service and warranties, as well as access to Ripples' content platform and themes. The Ripples app is free to consumers, with no monthly subscription or in-app charges.
"We are excited to unveil the Ripple Maker and proud to announce Lufthansa as our first global brand," said Yossi Meshulam, CEO of Steam CC, parent of Ripples. "Our mission is to add meaning, depth and joy to the coffee experience, cup by cup. And this aligns so beautifully with Lufthansa's commitment to 'Nonstop You'."
The Ripple Maker requires no special training, is small and convenient, and adds mere seconds to the coffee delivery process. Its intuitive display makes it simple to browse existing Ripple content which is arranged by themes (greetings, smart quotes, coffee humor, etc.), or to print a message that was sent by the Ripples app.
The Ripples app makes creating and sending a personal image as simple as creating a social media post. The app functionality allows you to choose an existing image from Ripples' content library, or submit an image from your camera roll which will be transformed into foam art at the venue. You can edit, scale, filter and even add text to the image.
"Latte art is one the most shared images on social media. We're taking latte art to a whole new level," added Meshulam. "When you put something beautiful in someone's hands, they want to share it. That's how we're making a ripple on the world."
Key elements of the Ripple Maker experience include:
-- Wi-Fi enabled device that neatly fits onto counter top with a small 8.5"
x 10.5" footprint
-- Creates high quality images or messages on foam topped drinks using pods
filled with coffee bean extract
-- As no artificial color is added, Ripple images are produced in "Coffee
Scale" - coffee based shades rather than full color
-- Adjusts automatically to a wide range of coffee cups up to 7" high and
4.5" wide, to produce Ripples that fit the diameter of the selected cup
-- Ripples are produced within 10 seconds
-- Ripples' content library has hundreds of images and messages to choose
from; new images constantly uploaded in real-time to the cloud,
-- Coffee lovers can use the app to browse Ripples' content library or
submit their own image, picture, design or message that gets sent to
their local Ripple Maker to produce
-- Ripples' content library is an open platform for any Ripple artist to
submit images for consideration
-- Priced at $999, the Ripple Maker will begin shipping September 2015

Marvell brings JavaScript to the smallest devices ever with today's most comprehensive implementation of JavaScript 6th Edition in the open source KinomaJS application framework
Marvell introduces two new hardware prototyping products for IoT innovators: Kinoma Element is instantly and always connected, interfaces with off-the-shelf sensors, and is ideal for prototyping embedded devices poised for mass production; Kinoma HD is a scriptable stick that transforms any HD screen into a display for IoT devices, handhelds, the cloud, and web content
To tweet this news, copy: Marvell expands its @Kinoma line for IoT prototypers--#JavaScript 6 implementation, new hardware prototyping products. http://kinoma.com/media/2015/IoTline/
SANTA CLARA, Calif. and SAN FRANCISCO, June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL)--a worldwide leader in providing complete silicon solutions from mobile communications to storage, Internet of Things (IoT), cloud infrastructure, digital entertainment and in-home content delivery and Kinoma(®) software enabling the "Smart Life and Smart Lifestyle"--today announced an expansion of its solutions for embedded and Internet of Things (IoT) product prototyping. The Kinoma implementation of JavaScript 6th Edition, and two new hardware prototyping products, will propel the next wave of connected device prototypers and manufacturers.
"Technology enabling the smart lifestyle must be easy to use, seamlessly connected, and beautifully responsive. It also needs to be open source to give the developers of elegant, high-performance products the interoperability, flexibility, and stability that open source offers. The open source KinomaJS application framework is our most advanced software technology for customers, partners, and developers building on Marvell silicon," commented Weili Dai, President and Co-Founder of Marvell.
JavaScript 6th Edition implementation
JavaScript has the most momentum of any professional programming language because it is easy to get started with, fast, and forgiving. JavaScript's continuously evolving developer-base for the web, growing adoption server-side, and rich potential in IoT position it as the dominant language of choice for today's programmers.
Sixth Edition is the biggest update to the JavaScript language since it was invented. The update, formally known as ECMAScript 6th Edition or ES6, contains more than 400 individual changes to make the language more concise, improve performance, and integrate support for modules. The addition of modules to the language is fundamental to architecting reliable, long running devices, making JavaScript 6th Edition the right foundation for connecting IoT products.
Kinoma's XS6 JavaScript engine, an independent implementation of JavaScript 6(th) Edition, is:
-- The most comprehensive implementation of JavaScript 6th Edition (a.k.a.
ES6) today. The most widely used conformance test suite, which measures
a 6th Edition implementation's completeness and compatibility, ranks
KinomaJS at 96 percent, far ahead of any other JavaScript engine.
-- The smallest implementation of JavaScript. Running well on devices with
as little as 512 KB of RAM, the power and convenience of JavaScript is
now practical on mass market consumer hardware.
-- Fast. Performance enhancements in the implementation deliver application
start-up improvements of 4x Kinoma's implementation of JavaScript 5th
Edition, and efficient binding to native C code connects to OS and
hardware features.
"The software tools used to develop embedded hardware products typically lag leading edge software development by many years. IoT developers want the benefits of the latest language improvements, but the memory and CPU performance requirements put it out of the reach of mass-market hardware. With the XS6 engine in KinomaJS, we are bringing the latest advances in JavaScript to embedded developers before they arrive on the web," said Peter Hoddie, Kinoma VP at Marvell.
New hardware prototyping products
Kinoma today introduced two new connected hardware prototyping products:
1. Kinoma Element is the smallest JavaScript-powered embedded product prototyping platform. Built around Marvell's MW302 wireless microcontroller system-on-chip that combines a 200 MHz CPU, 512 KB of RAM, and Wi-Fi, Kinoma Element is designed to connect products to the cloud, to mobile, and to other IoT devices.
With a pair of eight pin expansion ports, Kinoma Element is endlessly configurable to the ideas and plans of prototypers. It works with off-the-shelf sensors, lights, motors, and actuators, which are programmed with the same JavaScript hardware pins module as Kinoma Create.
Execute in Place (XIP) technology is key to running JavaScript applications on a device with only 512 KB of RAM. The Cortex M4 in Kinoma Element saves RAM by using XIP to run native ARM code directly from flash memory. The XS6 JavaScript Engine runs scripts directly from flash memory by implementing XIP for JavaScript byte code. This unique combination of XIP for both native and byte code frees the majority of RAM in Kinoma Element for application data.
Kinoma Element is designed to take ideas from drawing board, to prototype, through to mass production using Marvell's microcontroller line. Numerous companies--including August, Blossom, iHome, Rheem, and Xiaomi--have adopted other microcontrollers in this line for their IoT products.
2. Kinoma HD is a scriptable stick for developers who want to display visually rich content on the biggest displays. Kinoma HD's HDMI output plugs into an HD capable display, connecting wirelessly to IoT devices, iOS and Android handhelds, cloud services, and content from web-based apps. The stick is plug-and-play once slotted into a display's full-sized HDMI port, hooked up to a USB power supply, and connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Kinoma HD is thumb-sized, yet powerful enough to handle rich media presentations of an IoT ecosystem. For example, with Kinoma HD, developers can provide an engaging visual experience of IoT product performance and sensor data.

eServGlobal Launches Smartphone App for Mobile Money in Emerging Markets
PARIS, June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
eServGlobal has launched a smartphone app for mobile money services in emerging
markets. The white-label app will be part of eServGlobal's end-to-end mobile money
solution, supporting deployments worldwide.
To view the Multimedia News Release, please click:
The app has already been sold to five existing eServGlobal customers including
projects in Cabo Verde, Armenia, and Somalia. Service providers can easily configure the
app to suit the needs and brand of their deployment. The app will be available for end
users through an app store and is available for both Android and iOS devices, serving more
than 95% of the market.
Stephen Blundell, COO, eServGlobal, said, "Mobile money in emerging markets is a
rapidly evolving space and service providers need solutions which anticipate their
subscribers' needs and enable them to propose industry leading features. With the rapid
spread of low-cost smartphone through emerging markets, service providers need to look to
features such as apps to ensure the success of their mobile money offering."
Smartphone use in emerging markets is expected to experience significant growth in the
coming years following the market-entrance of low cost handsets, starting as low as US$25.
Industry body, the GSMA, reports that, "Smartphone penetration has now reached 35%
worldwide, and we forecast this to rise to 65% by 2020. Translated into absolute terms,
this is an increase of 3 billion users between 2013 and 2020. However, unlike the boom to
now, emerging markets will drive this next wave of growth, presenting a vast and largely
untapped audience with a low cost route onto the internet[1]."
The rise of smartphones in emerging markets will give users unprecedented access to
the mobile Internet, changing the shape of mobile financial services. The inclusion of an
app as part of a mobile money deployment will improve end-user experience, and address
useability barriers which have hampered service uptake, helping to overcome potential
literacy and cultural barriers through features such as a graphical user-interface.
The app could also offer the possibility to combine mobile money with social network
use. Many emerging markets, such as in South-east Asia, already have extremely high
adoption of social networks. The ability to leverage a user's social network to encourage
mobile payments such as domestic remittance or merchant payment is a significant
opportunity for mobile money service providers.
Chinese Cellphone Maker Ramos Repurposes Electric Car Battery Technology to Extend Life of Cellphone Batteries
Electric car maker BYD's latest battery technology to be deployed in Ramos' Onemos Cellphone mos1
SHENZHEN, China, June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The high-profile Onemos cellphone has gotten a lot of attention lately. Following the news that the phone features an anodized aluminum frame cut into 5 perfect symmetric facets to meet the 2.5D arc cover glass enclosure in a remarkable design, it has just recently been revealed that the same phone has adopted leading electric car manufacturer BYD's most advanced battery technology, a technology capable of increasing battery energy density and, as a result, achieving higher battery capacity in a battery of the same size. Previous reports in the media indicated that Ramos had joined hands with BYD to enter the cellphone market and BYD's co-founder Xia Zuoquan had significantly increased investment in the Onemos cellphone.
The Onemos cellphone mos1 battery comes with a 4.35 V high voltage design with higher battery capacity compared with traditional 4.2 V voltage. Joining hands with BYD, Ramos will integrate the latest electric car battery technology into a cellphone battery. The move is being seen across the cellphone sector as an innovative cross-industry integration. Energy density will be enhanced and battery capacity will be improved without any increase in the size of the cellphone battery, something that will be good news for a large number of cellphone owners.
As is quite well known, battery life has always been a pain point for smartphone manufacturers and users. At present, there are mainly two solutions to this problem. One is to improve capacity by increasing battery volume at the expense of having to insert an even heavier and larger battery into what needs to be a heavier and larger phone. The other is to enhance the energy density of the battery, which, in turn, extends the life of the battery, meaning higher capacity within the same size battery. Ramos' close partner BYD, a leader in the research and development of electric car batteries, will continue to introduce more cutting-edge battery technologies to the cellphone industry in a move to help tackle the prickly issue of cellphone battery life.
On the heels of further media coverage, the Onemos cellphone mos1 will soon be launched onto the market. Ramos is seeking partners in Southeast Asia and Europe. Microchip Introduces the PIC32 Harmony Software Decoder Framework and Microsoft WMA Decoder Library
Eases Development and Increases Flexibility of Consumer Audio Products, Such as Audio Docks, Automotive Head Units and Home Audio Platforms
CHANDLER, Ariz., June 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- [NASDAQ: MCHP] -- Microchip Technology Inc., a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions, today announced the PIC32 Harmony Software Decoder Framework and Microsoft Windows Media Audio (WMA) Decoder Library for 32-bit PIC32 microcontroller (MCU)-based consumer-audio application development within the MPLAB(®) Harmony Integrated Software Framework. The WMA Decoder Library includes a new modular framework for audio decoders, including support for MP3 and AAC, allowing easier audio application development.
Microchip's Audio Decoder Framework allows for audio software codecs to be easily added to a PIC32 design project. Rather than having to rewrite large sections of application code, the framework allows for easier integration into an existing customer application after the corresponding decoder library has been purchased. The WMA Decoder increases the depth of the library for PIC32 MCU-supported audio decoders, in addition to MP3 and AAC. This increases the range of audio formats that designers can choose to support. The audio decoder framework within the Harmony environment allows designers to easily add, subtract and switch among various software-based audio decoders. Additionally, including a WMA decoder gives developers an even wider set of options and support for audio playback.
The WMA Decoder Library is targeted for low-cost applications in the consumer markets, such as audio docks, home audio receivers and automotive head units. It gives developers added flexibility in decoder options that play back from internal or removable media. The addition of a WMA decoder library further expands the audio application flexibility of PIC32-based designs, building upon existing USB and Bluetooth(®) streaming audio solutions.
"The Audio Decoder Framework within the Harmony development environment is intended to reduce the development time for creating a multiple-format audio decoder application," said Rod Drake, vice president of Microchip's MCU32 Division. "Adding support for the WMA Decoder further increases the breadth of the overall PIC32 audio decoder offering."
Development Support
The Microsoft WMA Decoder Library is supported by Microchip's free MPLAB Harmony Integrated Software Framework and PIC32 Bluetooth Audio Development Kit (Part # DV320032, $199.99), both of which are available now.
Pricing & Availability
The Microsoft WMA Decoder Library (Part #s SW320015 and SW320025-1HPM, $199.97 and $199.00) is available for purchase today in two variants. In addition to the new Qi specification, the WPC also approved the test procedures and tools needed to verify that fast charging products are compliant with the new Qi specification, as well as being backward compatible with all existing Qi products.
The new specification is initially available only for members of the Wireless Power Consortium. It will be made available as a public document at a later date.

SRI International Releases New Game for DARPA Crowd-Sourced Software Verification Program
Citizen scientists interested in cybersecurity can now play Binary Fission at http://www.verigames.com
MENLO PARK, Calif., June 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- SRI International, in partnership with the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), the Air Force Research Laboratory, and the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Crowd-Sourced Formal Verification (CSFV) program, has created a game where sophisticated gamers can help improve security of the country's critical software. Binary Fission was designed as a fun and accessible way for "citizen scientists" to help increase the reliability and security of mission critical software by verifying that it is free of cyber vulnerabilities.
From a gaming perspective, the goal of Binary Fission is simple -- sort colored atomic particles or "quarks" in as few steps as possible. Players use up to 100 filters to sort the particles into separate pools. As players move their cursor over a particular pool, they are shown in real time how successfully a particular filter would sort the quarks in that pool.
Binary Fission also allows more sophisticated interactions: rather than defining behavior of software elements from scratch, players can mix-and-match pre-made descriptions. The search for such descriptions - technically called "loop invariants" - takes advantage of visual pattern recognition that people are better at than computers.
"We're very excited about the play experience in Binary Fission," said lead game designer Heather Logas of UC Santa Cruz. "Informed by new research about formal software verification and inspired by the citizen science phenomenon, the game is both very playable and also should contribute well to the underlying science problem."
Examples of critical software behavior, along with some pre-made invariants, are used to generate each level in Binary Fission. The quarks in the game actually represent values of variables inside the critical software, and the sorting filters represent the potential invariants to be explored and applied. By combining filters efficiently, players can help to verify that the software is free of security vulnerabilities.Binary Fission also emphasizes community, an important aspect of successful citizen science projects, through integrated chat, active community management and regular community events.
"The auxiliary Binary Fission feature set is very light, since our goal is to keep players focused on solving problems," said John Murray, Ph.D., program director in the Computer Science Laboratory at SRI International and principal investigator for the overall project. "However, as a citizen science project, our recruitment policy draws in players who are interested in solving cybersecurity issues."
Currently, formal software verification is rarely used because relatively few people have the necessary training in verification techniques. In addition, finding loop invariants in software programs has historically been a challenging task requiring extensive training and insight.
"SRI is well versed in formal software verification, with over a quarter of a century spent assuring that mission-critical computer systems are error-free, secure and interoperable. We are pleased to work with our partners in DARPA's highly innovative, creative and fun program," said Patrick Lincoln, Ph.D., director of SRI's Computer Science Laboratory. "We learned a lot of valuable lessons with our first game of this type, Xylem. For our gaming approach to succeed, we need a more sophisticated game for a more sophisticated audience. We have leveled up our research, and with more automation, interaction and sophistication, Binary Fission is our best game yet."
Binary Fission is one of five games that DARPA is releasing under its Crowd-Sourced Formal Verification (CSFV) program. All games, including the first SRI-and-UCSC-created game, Xylem, are freely accessible through the Verigames website.
UCSC and SRI are also collaborating with researchers at CEA, the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (Commissariat a l'energie atomique et aux energies alternatives) to develop tools for software analysis and formal verification that feed into Binary Fission.

Simply-Park, the First Intelligent Parking Reminder Now Available on Kickstarter for Crowdfunding
COPENHAGEN, Denmark, June 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Simpli-City, a tech start-up based in Copenhagen, Denmark, announced today that its Simply-Park, an intelligent parking reminder solution is now available on Kickstarter for crowdfunding. The project pledges for KR70,000 (USD10,563) by Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 8:40 AM EDT.
As the name implies, Simply-Park aims to improve parking experience by reducing the possibility of expired parking and consequently avoiding the economic loss. This hits the pain points of lots of car owners, who almost all have eaten tickets of expired parking.
The Simply-Park solution consists of a Bluetooth 4.0 token and a smartphone app. Users need to install the app and place the token anywhere in the car, then the app will:
1. Remember WHEN the car was parked - a countdown automatically starts when
drivers leave the car
2. Locates WHERE the car was parked - it is easier and time-saving to find
and get back to the car
3. ALERT users before the parking time expires - it is automatic, and users
don't need to manually set the reminder
The idea of Simply-Park came from Dawei, co-founder of Simpli-City and an experienced project manager. After he received several tickets due to expired parking, he decided not to lose more money in that way. He said, "Parking is a natural and necessary thing that all car owners do daily; however, to remember when and where we park and how much time is left before we must move the car to avoid a ticket, is natural but unnecessary. People should be free from parking concerns and other travails, because we have more important things to do!"
In line with Kickstarter.com rules, 30 days is set for this fundraising campaign to reach a total of KR70,000. When the deadline arrives, if the target is met, all funds will be transferred to the project owner to bring the product to the world; otherwise, the project receives nothing. Therefore, the Simply-Park team has provided a selection of rewards to different levels of backers, such as early bird products with appealing prices, special color with backer's name, logo t-shirt, and more. The project will use the funds mainly for app development on Android and iOS platforms, as well as mass manufacturing of the token.
The team aims to finish the app development on iOS in September and to deliver the final product to backers in early December. Once the funds raised reaches more than 180% of the original target, the Android version will be developed. To learn more about Simply-Park and the project on Kickstarter, readers can visit the homepage http://www.simplypark.dk or directly go to the Kickstarter project page and provide support to it: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1115844018/simply-park-the-first-intelligent-parking-reminder

Sonics Improves NoC Concurrency Management For SoC Designs With Multi-Channel Memory Sub-Systems, Addresses Place & Route Tool Restrictions
SonicsGN 3.0 Expands Patented IMT to Exploit Transaction Parallelism and Increases User Control of Hierarchical RTL Partitioning to Guide Physical Design
MILPITAS, Calif., June 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sonics, Inc., the world's foremost supplier of on-chip network (NoC) technologies and services, today released SonicsGN(®) 3.0, the latest version of the company's flagship NoC. SonicsGN 3.0 expands on the interleaved multi-channel technology (IMT) that has been patented and proven in SonicsSX(®) and includes new layout optimization features for design flows based on modern physical synthesis and place & route tools. SoC architects using SonicsGN 3.0 can eliminate multi-channel DRAM access bottlenecks with IMT and reduce layout tool iterations with flexible user control of hierarchical RTL partitioning and re-timing stage insertion.
"We originally patented IMT in 2008 and it has been routinely implemented by many of our SonicsSX(®) customers. At that time, SoC designers were early in the move to multi-channel memory architectures," said Drew Wingard, CTO of Sonics. "Use of multi-channel DRAMs and memory sub-systems is now pervasive in SoC designs, for example, in mobile applications where maximizing memory throughput takes precedence over increasing memory capacity. To address this trend, we've expanded IMT in SonicsGN 3.0 to give SoC architects much more effective management of transaction concurrency and memory sub-system performance in their designs. At the same time, we've enhanced SonicsGN's handling of hierarchical partitioning and re-timing to provide better layout guidance when designers generate their RTL netlist for physical synthesis and detailed place & route."
Concurrency Management for More Efficient DRAM Access and Transaction Ordering
In SoC designs with multi-channel DRAM subsystems, the processor speed and the total number of processors has grown to the point that the memory bandwidth bottleneck is the biggest problem. The purpose of using multi-channel memory is to exploit parallel access to memory, while avoiding bandwidth loss due to wide DRAM data buses. By breaking data into smaller word sizes and interleaving the transactions across multiple channels, IMT enables designers to improve concurrency and overall throughput by up to 20 percent using the same external DRAMs.
Another related concurrency management problem is ordering of requests that may be simultaneously outstanding to multiple targets, including multi-channel memories. SonicsGN's flexible reordering buffer architecture enables single initiator agents to have transactions outstanding to an arbitrary collection of targets, while respecting the protocol-defined ordering. SoC designers using the reordering buffer can further enhance concurrency by creating separate transaction tags where none existed or by restricting the reordering behavior.
Layout-Optimized RTL Netlist Generation
SonicsGN provides SoC designers a single, unified network that simplifies design capture and makes consistent the description of how addresses and connectivity work across an entire fabric that may span multiple clock, voltage and/or power domains. SonicsGN automatically generates the RTL hierarchies that respect the clock, power, and voltage domain boundaries for the physical tools. SonicsGN 3.0 includes new, user-controlled hierarchical partitioning and re-timing stage insertion capabilities that give designers control of which domains are associated with each re-timing stage for internal network links. Using these features, designers can better structure their SoC designs and optimize RTL netlist generation for physical layout, which results in fewer iterations in the back-end design flow.
Availability
SonicsGN 3.0 is available to early access customers now with general availability in July. For more detailed information on IMT, download the white paper. For more information on SonicsGN 3.0, contact your Sonics sales representative.
