God is very complex, Jaego. It's very hard to understand the purpose of His dying for us at times. But being God He can be creative and accomplish the task at hand at the same time. Unlike us who if we were to try to be creative in accomplishing an important task we'd screw it up. If you want to hear about crazy ramblings, trying reading about Hinduism. That's some weird stuff. They even have their own [weird] beliefs about Jesus. And by the way, when you become a Christian you stay a Christian. There's no was. Pardon me for saying this, but you are either a fallen Christian, or you never were a Christian. Salvation is forever. About praying to Himself, God is omnipresent. That means He can be everywhere at once. It's hard to explain it, but it at least explains how He can pray to Himself. Also, he was setting an example for us. By the way, Artemis, media does not say all [people who call themselves] Christians
believe in the bible. The media says about fourty percent believe. But that does not mean the other sixty percent are Christians. They just claim they are (in most cases).

There's the problem =P You seem to stick to the belief that God is, at base, human-like. If there is a God, I doubt it would be human-like. Humans are flawed, so God wouldn't be remotely human. Wouldn't think like a human, wouldn't act liek a human. So, why would God make an intricate plan that is so obviously human? =P

Well, I'm still confused as to how he is both God and Jesus. Your statement didn't help at all, basically you just said what every other Christian has told me about that...and if you actually listen to what you're saying, it makes no sense. And also, not all people fuck up when he 'creatively' accomplish something important, I don't know where you got that from (though I will admit that a lot of people do fuck up, just not everyone).

Quote

If you want to hear about crazy ramblings, trying reading about Hinduism. That's some weird stuff. They even have their own [weird] beliefs about Jesus.

I have read about Hinduism, it isn't any more or less weird than every other religion in the entire world. If you say that Hinduists have weird beliefs, it's only fair to admit that Christians do as well (and all other religions).

Quote

And by the way, when you become a Christian you stay a Christian. There's no was. Pardon me for saying this, but you are either a fallen Christian, or you never were a Christian. Salvation is forever.

You can't really say that, considering Christianity isn't a race of people. You can't just BE Christian forever. I lost my faith after a while. And if you and other Christians say "Oh, well then you never really were Christian"...then so be it.

Quote

About praying to Himself, God is omnipresent. That means He can be everywhere at once. It's hard to explain it, but it at least explains how He can pray to Himself. Also, he was setting an example for us.

You're right, it is hard to explain. Being as Jesus had his own conscious mind, but then so did God. So it seems impossible for him to be praying to himself because there'd have to some weird collective mind that God created but had no control over. BUT, he'd need to be in control of he wouldn't be God. Then at the same time Jesus and God HAVE to be one entity or else Christianity would be polytheism. Difficult issue to tackle, so let's not bother.

Quote

By the way, Artemis, media does not say all [people who call themselves] Christians

I guess I agree. If you don't believe in most of the Bible, then you're probably not Christian. Some of the stuff in there is pretty far-fetched (mostly the Old Testament), for example: God creating the world in six days when a day couldn't be defined because the Universe had to be created first. A day for God could have just as easily been seventy bajillion years as it could have been twenty-four hours. Then again, God created time, so...yeah...another difficult issue to tackle. Then Adam living to be...what? 900-something, I think it was? This kind of connects to the previous statement about God and time...maybe God changed how much time went by. Then (my all-time favorite) the Bible's amazing explanation for incestual deformities. Basically, God made a mistake (this is what it says, I'd quote it, but I need to find it first), which we all know is bullshit because God is supposed to be infallible. Whatever God says, goes. Nothing backfires, physics/genetics don't jump in to foil his plans. If God wanted it so that children from incestuous backgrounds looked normal, he would have made it so. They wouldn't have become deformed and God would have said "Whoopsies!" and then the Universe would've imploded or something.

w00t, my first long "quote someone" post!

EDIT: Oh yeah, just so you know; I respect your opinions and beliefs...but that doesn't mean I agree with 'em.

*sighs as well* Read with your eyes, Alexie. I said that the mannerisms of God in the bible are too human to actually be true. An etherial being cannot be so flawed as we as humans are. The bible refers to God as if God was human. They give God a sex, they make God vengeful, they make God act human. They do this because we can relate to it. It's all we know. You can't write for someone who is beyond your comprehension. That is what I meant when I said that.

Out of sheer curiousity, why do you spell my name with a 'u' instead of an 'i'?

Christianity can be considered weird in the sense that it is not like other religions. Other religions say you have to do something (good works, die in battle, etc.) while Christianity says the way to heaven is through what Jesus did, not what you did. There's also religions that believe in reincarnation. Even atheism is a religion. But it's not about religion when it comes to Jesus. Religion can be synonymous with ritual at times. Religion says you can get to heaven, nirvana, or whatever you believe in through works. By the way, if someone told your friend a lie that could do harm to him/her would you tell him/her the truth or let them be hurt. Christianity claims there is one true (multiple truths makes no sense). This is what I believe: If I were to tell you that Hinduism is the ultimate truth, then that would be like tell you the sky is green. I'd be either lying through my teeth or believing it myself but it is not the truth. I seen proof of this by seeing God move in my, and other's lives. To many coincidences to say otherwise.

What I do not like about religions such as Christianity is that there are people that act as the word of God (ex. pope). Believeing what they say or think is how God wants it. Stories past down from generations ever since the birth of Christianity has obviously become misinformed in time. Men with religious power started to become corrupt or started making other assumptions about God and the next life. For example, when Jesus was around there was never a mention at all of a place called Purgatory (place between heaven and hell). It was something that priests and other religious figures eventually made up or came to believe. Throughout history several popes have been known to use their power through politics threatening those that defied them to be excommunicated. That shows how corrupt the church had become, but of course there was the Reformation of Christianity involving Lutherism and Protestants. Luther was right in acknowledging that the church had been corrupt but severing itself from Christianity and forming a similar one shouldnt really be done either. Even though i'm not very religious, i'd say people that are Christian or close to it should just follow Jesus' teachings and nothing past that. The rest are really just skeptic stories that we're unsure if God praises those teachings. The way I follow my religion is just to have "faith", something that Jesus always stressed.

Get your head out of your ass and listen to what you're saying. You insulting other religions is no different than us insulting yours. All religions are fundimentally the same, as they provide people hope and something to believe in. It provides a structure for living that they follow. They aren't different, it's the believers who think they're different. The truth is we are here and we're the same, and yet we still put ourselves above those different than us. You have NO right to knock on Hinduism is you have ANY respect for your own religion. WWJD, man.
