GPS Tennis Shoes Old Tue Feb 13, 2007 1:37:16 PM #34028 Perm Link
I saw on the web a pair of tennis shoes that hold a small GPS chip. These are also going to be made for kids. For Alzheimers patients and kids, I think these are great. However, you can't use them just to track someone. YOu have to go through law enforcement to track someone down. And for kids, the GPS device can move from size to size.

This is an awesome idea!

I know many, many parents would feel content knowing their children could be tracked down in an emergency - if need be.

I think this is a great idea for kids. Did you happen to see if they are on sale yet or how much they are wanting for them. I will have to check these out. Very great idea for certain situations.

They are rather expensive right now and should be on shelves by this summer. It came about because the guy's son was reported missing and it ended up being a false alarm. The cool thing is that with the kids shoes, you can transplant the GPS device from shoe to shoe as they outgrown them!

So all a kid has to do is sneak some shoes out of the house with him, and switch them later? Too sneaky for sneakers!

The problem here is that kids still want specific kinds of shoes. I think a better form (as if it were possible Smile would be shoelaces. If someone can do the same thing with shoelaces then you'll never have to worry what type of shoes your kids want as long as the laces can be bought in different colors.

They also have a similar device in a mobile phone for kids. I think one even lets you track their movements while they're out of the house so that if you say ... okay you can go to the store... and they drive 20 miles in the other direction you'll know it :>

It is a great idea, and I hope it catches on.

I wonder if companies like Nike would be all over something like that?

They should be if they're not. I mean, the only downside is predators catching on and cutting the shoes off the kids. I like that it's a portable from one shoe to the next for kids.
