I thought the movie was so-so. I didn't think much of it either way. I'm sure that most people I know believe that Jesus was a man that was Jewish.

I guess being Jewish, it was harder for me to understand some of the symbolism.

I don't get how Jesus could be just Jewish or Catholic or whatever. If so many different religions believe different things, then how can we possibly know exactly what religion he was? Maybe he wasn't of any certain religious background? Could that be it, I wonder? I just don't get it. lol

History. Someone of another faith will back me up on this one. Jesus was Jewish.

I liked the movie, I wouldn't say it was spectacular or anything, I did really enjoy the books.

The bible clearly states that Jesus was Jewish and even traces his lineage. If you are Christian, apparantly you believe he is Jewish too. Jesus is also referred to in pagan, Jewish, and Christian writings outside the New Testament, so reguardless of what you believe it is fairly certain that a Jewish man, named Jesus lived in Palestine, was killed via cruxifiction, and continued to have followers even after his death.

I'm not sure if you were confused, but the movie doesn't say Jesus was not a man, it says Jesus had a child with Mary and the Holy Grail, was not an object, but Mary's "royal" blood line.

No, he was just another Jewish guy. We (Jewish people) don't believe in Jesus as a/the god, just another man.

That would make a lot of sense. I mean literally. A dude who has powers that no one that is jewish can explain? Does that about sum it up?

One of the main differences between Judaism and Chrisitanity is the subject of Jesus being the second coming of Christ (or something to that effect) instead of just another prophet.

See, I knew that Christians saw him as the human embodiment of Christ, but I was not sure what people of the Jewish faith saw him as. Thanks for clearing that up.

Anyways, I have heard this movie is really blasphemous. Is that true, was anyone who saw this offended?

The movie basically shows that Jesus was just a man. I don't think I need a spoiler tag for that since it is a known belief of many people.

A lot of Christians (and Catholics, maybe) believe that Jesus is divine and referring to him in human terms (such as insinuating that he had sexual urges/has had sex and had children and so on) is blasphemous. That's how this movie is considered blasphemous. If that doesn't offend you, then it's not that offensive (only to the real die-hards, I guess)

But I don't really know. I haven't seen the movie and I'm not Christian, so I can't say for certain if it is or isn't.

I quite like what I believe is the Muslim view of Jesus: he was a prophet. I don't believe that being a prophet to anyone has any significance, or that there is any form of god, though

The film was interesting... the theory explained is plausible, and one that The One Most Utterly Holy And Corrupt Roman Catholic Church ( catholics, I am not insulting you, only a specific organization you are members of ) doesn't like.

yah the movie was okay... but going to the whole jesus thing I think that jesus was a jew..

I think I'll watch it on Sunday, along with other movies that I need to watch, and see what the hype, if any, this movies has.

I think I will also watch World Trade Center.

This movie was just overrated and it was moreso by the stupidity of the church when it was released. If they didn't make such a big deal about it, it wouldn't have done nearly as well.

Woah there meeez. I thought scary movie 4 was okay but the da vinci code totally kick number 4's ass big time. This movie had some great actors and quite a few plot twists. But not to worry as it is all explain at the end even though it is still really confusing. GreaT MOVIE GREAT ACTORS. NOTHING COULD GO WRONG!

That's right. Nothing went wrong in the movie even though there were many times that they should have been killed or stopped.

Okay. I suppose you are right there. If you guys have seen constantine he died so many times, it started getting old. But this movie was all around good and as I said before I would highly suggest it. I wouldn't watch it if you were a heavy christian as there are some pieces of it that may go against what you believe.

Reguardless of what the Church did or didn't do, which was stupid I agree, that book sold 60-70 million copies and is up there in the top ten selling books of all time. I think there would have been alot of people going to see the movie anyhow.

Harry Potter also sold millions, and that is pretty much shit in book form, with the first 4 being the only ones worth anything. Most of the sales was due to controversy with the Catholic church.

I agree. This was a fantastic movie. However as you say the laST half was pointless I disagree. The last half mainly explained the first half. This would be offensive to any religion I am sure,as it bashes a fair few.

In terms of plot the last half was needed. I'm not saying the plot of the last half sucked, it could have been just as good and entertaining as the first half. The problem is they skimmed over and condensed a lot of information that really made the book thrilling and exciting. For as much build up as the first half of the movie half, the last half was a complete let down.

I thought the movie was good, but I'm looking forward to seeing Angels & Demons, probably on DVD. I preferred that book to The Da Vinci Code, personally.
