This movie rocked!

Great action, great effects. Decent story, and spectacular fight scenes.
During the whole movie I was intrigued. "What's going to happen next" was on my mind the whole time.
I highly recommend this one for a nice Friday night rental.

I've always been a sucker for the anarchist against a hegemonic government scenario. I love V for Vendetta.

I saw this last night. This movie was bad ass. I can't think of anything that could have made it better.

Yeah...that's the only thing that let me wondering...who was V? WE never really found out who the person was. However, that took nothing away from the sheer exhilerance of this movie.

I agree. It was a brilliant movie.

I'd really like to read the graphic novels. I heard that in the GN had far less EV romance and their relationship was more father/daughter mentor/apprentice.

Definitely read the comic. It's got so much more depth. There's just so much story that couldn't go into a 2 hour movie. That being said, I think this is the first movie based on an Alan Moore comic that I've actually liked. There was From Hell which failed to convey the different perspective presented in the comic, and ended up being just another Jack the Ripper movie. I think the worst was the league of extraordinary gentlemen. Tom Sawyer...nuff said.

V, the character, is a combination of Zorro and Darkman in my opinion. Very cool and poetic, played by Agent Smith from The Matrix (Hugo Weaving). The film takes its time building the story of investigating V's history and progress against the government, though I do wish there were a few more of the kickass action scenes to see. Overall, cool film. Hugo Weaving did an awesome job as V.

I agree, but after the movie was over I was left wondering "Who exactly was V?"
But my answer was clear, He was "THE PEOPLE"

AWESOME!

This was the best movie I have seen all year. I think that we should start a new thread to discuss the movie in depth with spoilers...

Anyone care to start a spoiler topic? I have many things to discuss about the future of the world.

ok i just saw it yesterday.. Wow its amazing love what the Wichowski(?) brothers did with it, they made the good old matrix action without making it that when you saw the fight scenes you automatically thought Ok this isn't the matrix Syke its bullshit >.< but they did it in a new way with a hint of matrix action plus the storyline is amazing and the twists are fantastic!

Was just watching "V" the Alien attack movie from the 80's to compare the similarites in theme. The beginning states it's dedicated to Freedom Fighters of all ages, to give you an idea what the movie is about, when enormous UFO's land on earth, disguised as humans, take over and treat the humans like cattle. I used to watch the series too. The resistance spray paints red "V"s all over the world, while fighting back against the dominating power of the 'lizard-like aliens' dressed as humans. Recommended if you don't mind the 80's style, but like stories about fighting back against a power that slowly takes over the population through deception, manipulation, bribery and force.

The plot is an obvious rip off of Zorro. I mean, hes even carving "V" into stuff. Call me crazy, but I thought it was unoriginal and the action was limited.

I'm an action fan, and though I enjoyed V a lot the second time through, it took a little effort to accept there's really only three scenes worth of short action, though well done, in this lengthy tale of rebellion and revenge.

One solution could have been to make the assasination kills offer more action opportunities instead of just silent kills (offer more guards), if more action was a goal. As is, I don't consider V an outright Action film, but more of a Dramatic film with some hints of action, which made me enjoy it much more, mostly thanks to V. The trailers seem to promote it as an action film though.

True, I guess I was going into it with some false expectations. Either way, I wasn't really into the V character. I thought his mask was kind of lame. Natalie Portman is a class A hottie though. Too bad she shaved her head. I'm not into chicks with shorter hair than me.

My friend and I rented it the weekend after it got out and was in Blockbuster [lol] We were in my room and everytime the camera was on him we said "SHOW HIS FACE!" Especially at the end. We were even throwing things at the tv! We got so mad. And then we got smart... hehe... and looked him up online! And saw he was pretty ugly. So yeah. But I loved the movie. :]
