I want this

Or something to that effect. I saw something nearly the same but it wasn't a top, it was a weighted magnet and it just floated without being spinned. I really want that one.

They make globes that float as well.

Floating things are awesome.

They make a PERPETUATOR that spins the top electromagnetically and keeps it in the air for weeks.

The Levitron is absolutely amazing. I actually got the idea one night to try and float a magnet but couldnt do it. Then I decided to see what info I could find on the net.....Low and behold, somebody already invented the damn Levitron...and I had to have one....I have been studying the Levitron religiously for about 4 months now and have reached some very interesting conclusions about it. It is possible to create a full size vehicle that uses the same principles of the Perpetuator to keep it suspended in mid-air. I have been tinkering around in my shop and have proved this more than once. I will briefly describe this "engine". If we designate the top of the craft "South" or "Negative"....and we designate the bottom of the craft "North" or "Positive", we have just simulated the design of the Levitron top. Now....if a device that uses the same principle of the "Perpetuator" is mounted in the craft (obviously on a much larger scale than the little perpetuator), it is possible that it can leave the ground. To make it a fully functioning vehicle, we need to find the correct operating weight, operating temperature of the magnet, and spin ratio. Once we have established this...we can try to get it to float...The power supply would have to be Nuclear, due to the fact that the craft needs a portable, powerful, and long lasting power source. If we did get it into the air, we would need a device that controls the yaw of the craft. Also If we spin the disc slower it will descend....faster and it will ascend. Back 2 the shop for now!!!

A quick followup to my previous post....The full size craft could also use dry ice, or liquid Nitrogen to increase the strength of the magnetic forces at work. (The colder the magnet, the stronger it is, the warmer, the weaker). The full size craft would cost millions to create, due to different materials needed. ( To get a large, custom made Neodymium magnetic core, that alone would cost about 2.3 million). If I had the materials, I'm positive I could get it off the ground in about 16 months. (I've got nothing but time on my hands!) The biggest problem I can see would be acquiring nuke rods, ( I would need to go splinter cell style to get my hands on some of those bad boys, so it's not gonna happen!) I've got the know-how....the experience...and am enlightened enough to see the project from the beginning to the end, even before it happens. I wish i was working for NASA....I'd show those bastards the future!!!! To be quite honest....im probably not the 1st to think of this type of propulsion system, because the whole thing makes perfect sense. Its obvious that the Nazi's knew what they were doing when they built Haunebu 1,2,and 3. They used the Vril propulsion system to get their craft of the ground, and were responsible for hundreds of "sightings" across europe. Since the craft was very hard to control, it would kinda "drift off" in an un-desired direction, and would be tricky to get back on course using their primitive technology. But never the less, they figured out how to do it. ( If it wasnt for Al Einstein, they would still be wiping their noses on their sleeves! By the way....his wife was much smarter then he was). When the americans found out about the Nazi's secret Base in Antarctica, and what they were doing there, they realized that the power of the world was about to shift towards the Nazi party.... They couldnt have this.....They sent in like 6,000 marines and cleaned the place out. What they retrieved there has been kept secret for a very long time. The U.S. is sitting on technologies that could change the world forever. But alas...we will never have flying cars, unless the big oil companies let us use this primitive liquid called "Gasoline". Its our own fault for letting Big oil get this big! And now we cant stop them....they run everything! You will never see solar panels on every house, or the water cars of the future. Because of big oil, we will crash our own economy if we changed. Do you people have any idea of the genius inventions that have been made to solve the worlds problems, but big oil holds them all down...Stuff like the perpetual magnetic motor....an absolute genius idea....no fuel....no pollution....and it is stronger....no wear and tear....no parts to replace.....but here lies the problem.....its too efficient.....no fuel and no spare parts means bad business for oil. People.....we have to get off the gas....its destroying our environment.....dont let the oil companies hold the world back!!!! We will never see the future unless we do something about it!!!! Experts estimate that the world wont last past 2030 "unless we make dramatic changes to the way we live.

Does anybody have an interest in Rockets????? Believe it or not....im planning on placing a satelite in orbit next year. My last rocket went a wee bit of course and landed in Hudsons Bay. But it reached an altitude of approx. 24 miles, before the high speed winds knocked it into a death twirl. Next one is gonna be bigger, heavier, and I may or may not place a monkey on board. My past rocket designs use no fuel or parachutes. I use a combination of fans for propulsion, with car batteries for power. My last design used 1 battery and had ebough power to reach the exosphere. My current rocket is draped in solar panels, which are hooked into a central line...which is hooked to an inverter....which is hooked to the giant fan motors. It works like gravy. I have Radio Controlled it on a test flight (with a parachute), I hooked up two RC Helicopter mini-cameras to it. One to see where i'm going ....the other to gather intel on the flight. Since my altimeter isnt wirelss...i needed to see what the readings were, while its up miles in the air. I mounted a mini cam with a tiny light bulb inside the rocket, pointed at the altimeter....so i can view the altitude of the rocket, from the comfort of Mission Control ( my house) If anybody wants to try this you will need to invest in a long range FM system, and rent an FM band for a while ( if your lucky enough to live near a microwave tower like me you could easily tap into their tower...my last rocket cost about $6,000 canadian dollars, and it took almost 6 months to draw and build, just to get one test flight. Since my FM signal is lost at about 24 miles.....i'm thinking about placing a mini RC glider on board the rocket......with the altimeter in the glider....i can bring it back home and view the reading (my own black box). I would have to mount a mini camera on board the glider for steering. Since i wont be able to view the camera feed until it comes within Infrared Range....its gonna be dropping like a stone....then when the glider comes within range, my video feed will come back.....and i will be able to bring her in for a landing. I thought about just parachuting the altimeter out of the rocket....but theres no way it'll find its way back home....It'll prolly end up in the Atlantic this way.....so the rc glider is a must.....If anybody is as hardcore as I am....then we need to bounce some ideas off each other. Such as.....how should i get the glider out of the rocket....I thought about setting up a timed explosive charge which will blow after about 30 minutes of flight....releasing the glider from the rocket...Since the rocket flies very slow, due to the extreme weight, it can easily take 1 hour to reach space. Ive gone through too many wireless mini-cams and too many giant fans for this to be a failure.....The next launch is scheduled for a bright July day next year. I cant wait!! P.S. Does anybody have a monkey i can borrow ( he wont be coming home).

With the electromagnet, the real magnet will push the electromagnet down with the same force as the em pushing it up. This cancels the force you would get.

Magnetism is like energy. You need to expend energy to reach a higher potential energy. Using magnitism to achieve this is no different.

The electromagnet would NOT be cancelled out, because it is anchored in the craft pointing downward, creating an elektromagnetic field under the craft at all times....With this field in constant.....the craft would be suspended indefinitely. Then by manipulating the positive charge of the craft, we would be able to "steer" it, or point it in one direction. To ascend, the core must be spinning at a higher rate....to descend, spin at a lower rate. But not too low or it will plumet to the earth, and not too high or it will "jump" out of the field all together. There are actually two seperate forces that need to be created under the craft. If the bottom of the craft is "North"....then a seperate "North" field would need to be created under the craft, to give it possible levitation. Onc this is achieved, you can then mount the spinning elektromagnet inside the craft, at the bottom-most point. That will enable it to remain spinning at a desired rate without falling. You would be able to kontrol the spin rate of the elecktromagnet with a simple motor.

interesting stuff...but what would be the actual point on this type of craft, other than it looking cool? and, what existing vehicles would you say would be comparable?

also, since you posted so much info on this and seem to have a lot to say about it, why not post a nice U-Art article on this site and share your knowledge...

So you want to use the magnetic field of the Earth as the base magnet?

That idea is feasible, but the magnetic field might not be strong enough for that type of task.

I think you kinda misunderstood what I was saying about the base magnet. Using the magnetic field of the earth is not strong enough to support levitation of the craft. Since we can't put the base magnet on the craft ( due to it's weight, and the fact that it just cant work that way anyways), we need to simulate the effect of the magnetic "lift" of the base magnet, by designating the bottom of the craft "North" and the top of the craft "South", we can create a device that simulates a strong magnetic "North" under the craft. The bottom of the magnetic field would be closer to the ground and must be "South", the top of the field would be "North" (right under the craft) enabling it to repel the field. Since this field is always under the craft....it can fly.....and very very fast I might add. To pilot the craft, we would need to make two completely independant parts of the craft. Number one is the inner part of the craft with the controls, seating arrangements. It would be connected to the spinning core of the craft by way of a berring wheel. Making it possible for the core to spin....along with the outside of the craft....but the inner floor to remain still! Berring wheels are so cool!!! This type of design will not work without the berring wheel. Praise the Lord for such wonderful science!!!! God is good!! Jesus luvs you!!!!

And I wouldnt make this craft to "look cool".....this is design for what is commonly referred to as a U.F.O. An earth bound "flying saucer". I wouldnt be able to fly South of the equator without some minor adjustments of the fileds. This is not a "whacko" idea. I am an amateur scientist who wishes to take to the skies without pollution. Ive even thought about placing these devices on my bicycle to see if i can hover. Leonardo Da Vinci eat your heart out!!!

Don't bring God into a science discussion. It is not appropriate nor needed.

Take a magnet and place another magnet with the same pole facing each other. They do repell with a great amount of force (inverse R squared). Now attach them to a wooden block at the same distance apart. Ohh, the block doesn't float! Why? You are not repelling the ground!

ok, so you wouldn't make it "look cool" - what would be the purpose of the vehicle then...other than to have a real, working "UFO"? in other words, why would we want to build such a thing,...it sounds like it would fly like a helicopter, but be much more expensive...

btw don't they use a similar ideas in the "bullet train" design (japan)?

bear in mind that i'm not trying to disparage you...i'm glad you're here and i enjoy reading your ideas...i'm just curious as to the practical applications...other than scaring rednecks into thinking they're being attacked by aliens. (:

(sigh) Hardy fucking har. Come on, stick to being a scientist...you're not a very good comedian. That's such an old joke.

>BTW....God does have a place in science my friend....he is a master of engineering.....he made our laws of physics.....he created life....he created time...if that isnt science....then what is??"

Oh, please, come on. As a scientist, you should know this isn't a fact but opinion based on outmoded beliefs. take some sociology/religion classes and open your eyes a bit more. Organized religion has always been full of shit. If you're a true scientist, you're stifling yourself with this crap.

>And also my ideas are far from flawed......I understand that most people have a hard time grasping concepts....and then of course they get negative about it, and mock it.....this is something I have come to expect when I bounce my ideas off people.....I taught formula's and mathematics for 6 years ....dont tell me my ideas are flawed.

That's pretty arrogant, i'd say. People have every right to disagree with you. As a scientist, you should have the ability to argue your point of view, not simply say "don't tell me my ideas are flawed." That's like saying "I know you are, but what am I?"

Your students may soon realize that you're barking up the wrong tree, and a "magnetic UFO" is both useless, overpriced, and pointless.

Prove me wrong.
