Intepro Three Phase Utility Grid Simulator Features Energy-Saving Regenerative Power Source
PAS-F system offers power levels from 45 kVA to 1.6 MVA; regenerative bi-directional AC source returns up to 92% of load energy to simulate new LVRT requirements
TUSTIN, Calif., June 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Intepro Systems, a market leader in power component and power system automated test equipment (ATE), announces the introduction of the PAS-F Series of programmable three phase utility grid simulators. The PAS-F combines utility grid simulation and regenerative bi-directional AC source that is capable of both sourcing and sinking the full current load from the device under test (DUT). With power levels ranging from 45kVA to 1.6MVA, the series is capable of testing the largest of dispersed energy inverters.
When testing dispersed energy products such as PV inverters, energy storage systems and wind turbines, the traditional test set up requires a load bank in parallel with the DUT and AC source. The PAS-F does not require the parallel load. Instead full DUT current is sunk into the AC source and 92% of the power is regenerated back to the utility grid, saving energy and reducing system-cooling requirements.
The PAS-F offers fully adjustable output voltages (up to 305 V line-to neutral, 528 V line-to-line) and frequency (40-70 Hz). It features embedded low-voltage-ride-through (LVRT) test windows to allow for simple programming of compliance routines including the new 10% LVRT requirements. The DSP based controller allows for independent phase angle, voltage and phase imbalance control to meet requirements such as IEEE1547 where multi-phase inverters must be tested on an individual basis and all phases simultaneously. The PAS-F can also be used as a reference AC source for use in UL1741, IEEE1547, BDEW (German) and CEI0-16 (China) compliance testing.
For more information about this product, download the PAS-F Series data sheet. For more information about this or any other Intepro product, visit the Intepro Systems website (http://www.inteproATE.com) or email sales@inteproATE.com.

Batteroo Announces Game-Changing, Disposable Battery Life Extender for up to 800 Percent Additional Performance
Batteriser to have significant impact on disposable energy market and the environment
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Every year, over 15 billion disposable batteries are consumed globally. What most consumers don't realize is that most devices only tap 20% of a battery's energy before the device stops functioning, and the batteries are thrown in the trash. Batteriser lets you tap into the remaining 80 percent of energy that is usually thrown away. The result is batteries last up to 8x longer.
Batteriser is a reusable sleeve that slips over new or most "used" batteries, and instantly taps into the remaining energy that is usually thrown away. Crafted from stainless-steel at less than .1 millimeters thin, Batteriser sleeves are designed to easily slip over your battery and fit neatly back into your device.
A typical disposable battery can have as much as 80 percent of its energy remaining before electronic devices regard it as powerless. Batteriser is able to access that wasted energy much like a drinking straw allows us to reach the bottom of a glass. Batterisers can also be used with new alkaline batteries for similar savings and performance gains.
Batteriser, currently the only device of its kind, will be available for AA, AAA, C, and D-cell batteries. Retail prices will start at under $10.00 for a four pack of Batteriser sleeves.
Batteroo Corporation was cofounded by Bob Roohparvar Ph.D., who holds more than 20 patents in his 30-year career. Roohparvar is no stranger to disrupting the power management industry, with a prolific patent portfolio. His career spans power management, semiconductors, and consumer products. Dr. Roohparvar is also a professor at California State University, East Bay, teaching computer science and computer engineering courses.
"Batteroo is the first to unleash existing unused power from a seemingly powerless battery, and by extending battery life by up to eight times, Batteriser pays for itself with the very first purchased pack," said Roohparvar. "Why throw away perfectly good batteries, or waste money buying new batteries, when we now have a technology that saves money, saves energy, and can cut the number of batteries that end up in landfills by more than half."
"When we get a new battery it is 1.5 volts, when we use it in a device it goes down to 1.3 volts under load condition, at that point we consider it to be dead and throw it away" said Dr. Kiumars Parvin, Professor of Physics at San Jose State University. "We tested the Batteriser sleeve in our lab and we confirmed that the Batteriser taps into the 80 percent of energy that is usually thrown away."
The $14 billion disposable battery market is estimated to be powering 5.4 billion battery-operated devices - That's 15 billion batteries consumed annually worldwide. Only approximately two percent of these batteries are disposed of properly. The rest are thrown away, leading to soil contamination and a laundry list of negative environmental impacts.
Roohparvar credits the innovation to an intelligent voltage management and delivery mechanism. Batteroo introduces this system in the format of a sleeve that makes contact with the positive and negative ends of a common battery to access untapped remaining energy at a steady state system voltage.
Batteriser has been tested and proven compatible on a variety of battery-operated home and office gadgets, including wireless keyboards, noise cancelling headphones, Xbox and Wii controllers, TV remote controls, walkie-talkies, digital scales, electric toothbrushes, toys, portable radios, flashlights, and blood pressure monitors.
Batteriser harnesses untapped battery energy and at the same time saves the consumer money and is environmentally friendly by sparing landfills from unnecessary toxic battery waste.

NCTech Powers Google Street View Revolution With iris360
Google announces major changes to Street View to image inside millions of businesses, supported by new 360 degree camera system from NCTech
EDINBURGH, Scotland and PRAGUE, June 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
NCTech [http://nctechimaging.com ], the developer of reality imaging systems, today
announced the launch of iris360(TM), a new consumer 360 degree camera system designed to
speed the capture and upload of 360 degree images to Google Maps and Street View.
iris360 is a panoramic camera, remote-controlled by a mobile phone or tablet, that
quickly captures high-resolution 360 degree images from its four sensors. With zero setup
time, iris360 does not require photographic experience to operate and, with one touch,
captures and delivers a huge 8K resolution, HDR panoramic image in less than two minutes.
iris360 is small and lightweight, making it easy to transport and deploy, and is designed
for use in both indoor and outdoor environments.
The development of iris360 enables panoramic images to be more quickly and easily
published on Google Maps and Street View apps. iris360 is fully integrated to allow users
to control the camera and upload panoramic photos directly from the Google Maps and Street
View apps.
Currently, businesses that want 360 degree panoramic images for their Google profiles
have to arrange photoshoots with photographers who use standard cameras to take pictures
in a circle and use complex software to merge them. Given the need to process these images
off-site with desktop software, the traditional sales process can take days.
The simplicity of use provided by iris360, with all image processing being conducted
on-board, makes it possible for anyone to become a Google Street View photographer. Using
iris360, the process is fast, automatic and can be on Street View in minutes. This speed
of capture means that one iris360 owner could conceivably shoot and upload a full street's
worth of business interiors in a single day.
"The high resolution and speed of the iris360 camera was a perfect fit for our Street
View launch," said Charles Armstrong, Product Manager for the Google Street View apps and
Trusted program. "NCTech has taken an important step in helping others record and explore
our world with high fidelity, 360 degree imagery."
NCTech is the company behind the industrial-grade iSTAR 360 degree camera system,
which is widely used in commercial, engineering, military and government departments.
"We are pleased to introduce iris360, a product that we are confident will help
photographers and their business clients quickly and easily add any shop, bar or
restaurant to Street View," said Neil Tocher, CTO, NCTech. "Earlier this year we conducted
live trials across europe with our cameras, showing businesses what they can do, and the
response showed us that the market is very real. In just three months, with three cameras
and three photographers, more than 2,000 business images were captured, purchased and
uploaded into Google Views."
"Our pedigree in producing 360 degree imaging systems for industrial use was the
perfect starting point from which to build a prosumer-grade product like iris360 and we
have enjoyed working with Google to address this challenge," said Cameron Ure, CEO,
NCTech.
iris360 is currently available for pre-order from http://www.nctechimaging.com at
$1,999. The product is expected to start shipping in August 2015.
NCTech and Google introduced iris360 at the IVRPA 360degree(s) Virtual Reality
Panoramic Photography & Video Conference [http://ivrpa.org/event/prague-2015 ] in Prague
this week.
Google will be making more announcements about the new Street View apps and Trusted
program prior to these launches.
About NCTech
NCTech designs and manufactures leading 360 degree reality imaging systems that
automate and streamline the workflow of image documentation and can be used repeatedly,
accurately, consistently by anyone anywhere. In 2015, the company launched iris360, a
non-calibrated camera system, intended for aesthetic panoramic image capture.
NCTech's industrial-grade camera, iSTAR(R), is a fast, fully automatic, 50 megapixel,
360 degree HDR camera. Fully calibrated for high precision applications such as

SMIC Adds Reliability Checks to IP Certification Program Based on Mentor Graphics Calibre PERC Platform
WILSONVILLE, Ore., June 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Mentor Graphics Corp. (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced that Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) will include new circuit reliability checks using the Calibre® PERC(TM) product in its IP certification program. Reliability verification helps ensure that ICs manufactured by SMIC are free of subtle design flaws that can affect reliability in the field. Calibre PERC joins Calibre nmDRC(TM), Calibre nmLVS(TM), and Calibre LFD(TM), which are mandatory sign-off elements, as a strongly recommended reliability checking element in SMIC's third party IP certification process. For SMIC ecosystem partners who do not own the Calibre PERC product, Mentor provides a service allowing partners to submit their designs for checking against the SMIC reliability rules.
"ICs designed today have higher reliability requirements than ever before, regardless of the process node they use," said Dr. Tianshen Tang, senior vice president of SMIC's Design Service Center. "By adding Calibre PERC reliability checks for I/O and power ESD protection, cross power domain charged device models (CDM) and latch-up to our IP certification process, we help ensure that SMIC customers can achieve their target system level reliability requirements. Once the trial-run period successfully ends, SMIC will make Calibre PERC reliability checks a mandatory sign-off element."
The SMIC reliability checks include ESD circuit and device layout checks, ESD path interconnect reliability checks, checks for ESD protection on analog-digital interfaces, and latch-up checks on guard ring and strap layouts. The Calibre PERC product not only detects violations, but provides designers with a holistic environment for debugging circuit reliability problems. It provides an integrated view of circuit connectivity, topology, physical layout and design rules, which is unavailable in any other tool.
As part of the program, third party IP submitted for certification at SMIC can also be provided to Mentor Graphics, where designated customer application engineers run the SMIC checks using in-house datacenter facilities. Mentor then provides reports indicating pass/fail results, along with pointers to any missing or incorrect protection circuits.
"SMIC and Mentor have worked together to make the SMIC IP certification program even more comprehensive by leveraging the Calibre PERC platform," said Joseph Sawicki, vice president and general manager of the Design-to-Silicon division at Mentor Graphics. "As SMIC implements this program across their various process nodes, their customers will save engineering time and effort, while increasing confidence that their ICs will be extremely robust and reliable in the field."
SMIC and Mentor Graphics will present an overview of the SMIC IP certification program at the SMIC booth (#2803) at the upcoming Design Automation Conference being held at Moscone Center in San Francisco. Specific dates and times for the presentation will be posted on the SMIC web site.

High-Speed Server Networking Adoption Accelerates, Crehan Research Reports
Both Ethernet and Fibre Channel Upgrades Reach Inflection Points
SAN FRANCISCO, June 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Customer transitions to higher-speed server networking are accelerating, according to the most recent server-class adapter and LAN-on-motherboard (LOM) reports from Crehan Research Inc. Combined 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and 40GbE shipments have increased more than 30% year-over-year to account for almost 30% of total Ethernet server-class adapter and LOM shipments, according to the reports. Over the same time period, 16 Gigabit per second (Gbps) Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter (HBA) shipments have seen a two-and-a-half fold increase to comprise 20% of total Fibre Channel shipments. These higher server networking speeds are now at inflection points in terms of adoption - see accompanying figure.
"Customers are more-rapidly upgrading their server networking capabilities to faster speeds to take advantage of the higher bandwidth capabilities of the most recent server platforms," said Seamus Crehan, president of Crehan Research. "Currently, this is more evident in the hyper-scale, telco and high-performance computing segments, and we expect it to become evident in the general enterprise environment by the second half of this year," he added. "Furthermore, we expect this migration to higher-bandwidth servers to in turn drive more widespread deployments of higher-bandwidth data center switches."
In addition to the onslaught of data center networking traffic, recent factors driving increased demand for higher server networking speeds include:
-- The introduction and ramp of Grantley-based servers, Intel's latest
micro-architecture platform.
-- Much lower data center switch prices, including some high volume
top-of-rack switches priced at less than half the price of comparable
prior-generation models.
-- More adoption of flash-based solid-state drives which have greater
attach rates of faster networking speeds.
In its previous data center switch and server-class adapter and LOM reports (4Q14), Crehan Research noted that 40GbE adoption was particularly strong. The company's current reports confirm that this strength continued in 1Q15, with 40GbE server-class adapter and LOM shipments increasing more than twenty-fold year-over-year to approach a one-and-a-half million port annual shipment run-rate.

VESA Updates Multiple Projection Common Data Interchange (MPCDI) Standard to Include New Color Correction Parameters
Applications include large-scale entertainment, simulation and air-traffic control, to name a few
NEWARK, Calif., June 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA(®)) today released Version 2.0 of the VESA Multiple Projection Common Data Interchange (MPCDI) Standard. Developed by VESA's Multi-Projector Automatic Calibration (MPAC) Task Group, the standard creates a standard data format for multi-projector alignment systems, allowing these systems to produce data that can be easily utilized and integrated by a range of devices, programs and displays. The newest update includes a number of changes intended to mitigate color differences that arise when blending different projectors, enabling greater performance with respect to color consistency, brightness and intensity.
Modern solid-state imaging-based projection systems use fixed pixel numbers and positions. To shape the picture to fit a screen or to overlay an object, it is necessary to modify the shape of the image content in the signal. The techniques involved include edge blending, warping and pixel mapping. Introduced in July 2013, the MPCDI specification seeks to standardize these techniques across multiple manufacturers' hardware and software offerings.
Version 2.0 of the MPCDI Standard builds on these efforts to allow for color correction so that individual projectors being blended together can be color matched regardless of brand, projector type or projector technology. Full 3D lookup tables are supported so that even DLP projectors, which traditionally are very difficult to color match, can be supported by multi-projector setups.
The new additions to the standard include:
-- Color definitions - Formatting and storage of lookup tables are defined,
along with input color-to-blending-to output color mapping equations and
associated use cases.
-- Color XML specifications - To store the definitions, the XML header was
modified to allow pointing to the appropriate files and storage of the
non-file correction parameters.
-- Revised extension example - The original extension example - a color
lookup table storing a series of .png files - is now covered in the
standard directly. The new example provided is a lookup table for
distortion and correction for chromatic aberration, with a separate
red-green-blue (RGB) warp.
When combined with the existing standard, these new parameters further enable free interchange of data structures that provide a video definition for both content and intensity of colors that have been altered to allow conformance of multiple images for display as a continuous single image.
"Multi-projection systems are a cornerstone technology for a growing number of markets. These include high-end entertainment venues, military and other training simulators, and air-traffic control systems, as well as emerging virtual reality environments," said Bei Yang, creative technology executive, Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development, Inc. "With Version 2.0, we can bring more stability in both geometry and color quality than ever before to projection used in our theme park attractions."
Also included in the definition of VESA's MPCDI Standard are geometric data, intensity, color, and topographic information about each of the displays. The purpose of this definition is to simplify the transition between technologies during the lifecycle of a display system.
"Once again, VESA's MPAC Task Group has worked with the industry to anticipate and address a key requirement for multi-projection implementation," said Alan Kobayashi, chairman of the VESA Board of Directors. "VESA has a large portfolio of standards addressing areas including display interfaces, video parameters including timing, and compression, and MPCDI has extended our reach into multi-projector systems - in turn, broadening our impact within the display and electronics industries."

A New Digital Coaching Plan Aims to Get Kind-Hearted Fundraisers Ready for the Race for Life
LONDON, June 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Instead of dreading the punishing 5K and 10K events being held throughout the summer
of 2015, women can now relish the challenge ahead by getting race ready with a 12-week
training schedule. The Race for Life 5K app [http://bit.ly/1Fi1nML ] has been developed to
give women the fitness and strength they will need to complete the shorter of the two 'fun
runs'. It doesn't matter whether the user wants to break a world record or simply stroll
around the course to rapturous applause, this digital app is packed with advice, workout
plans, and nutritional guidance.
For women who are attempting the doubly difficult longer run, the Race for Life 10K
app [http://bit.ly/1FEI2HX ] steps up the intensity of training and lifestyle change -
giving women the physical and mental attributes they will need to make it to the finish
line without needing an oxygen mask. And the icing on the cake? 20% of every sale of these
sophisticated training apps will be donated to Cancer Research UK.
Both training plans are designed for women of all ages, sizes and fitness levels.
Kiqplan's Race for Life apps [http://www.kiqplan.com/www/partners/r4l/five-and-ten-k-run ]
use a combination of the user's personal information and activity data to develop an
individual training programme. Activity - including the number of steps taken and calories
burned - is monitored by an activity tracker or smart phone. The user is then given
specific workout schedules, nutritional guidance and lifestyle tips based on current
fitness levels and weekly progress.
For more than 20 years, millions of women have been taking part in 5K and 10K races
all over Britain - raising more than GBP513 million in the process. This money has been
used to develop treatments and fund research into finding a cure, which is why so many
people show their support for the Cancer Research UK event. Although tens of thousands of
women are keen to play their part in raising around GBP50 million this year, not all of
them are in the necessary physical shape - and that's where these intuitive digital
training apps come in.
Race for Life events [http://raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/index.html ] are about
to get underway in towns, cities and villages up and down the UK, yet many of the
participants will already by worrying about making it to the finish line without the need
for medical assistance. Fitness app specialist Fitbug has decided to give those people a
helping hand by developing the Kiqplan Race for Life training app.
These intuitive smart apps have been designed to make training as enjoyable as
possible (who said running until you feel like collapsing could be so much fun?). While
the ultimate target is to complete the Race for Life without needing piggy-backs or taxis,
users are given regular targets to achieve throughout the 12-week programme. Meeting a
specific target set by the apps results in the awarding of achievement badges, while
missed targets result in feedback and extra guidance being given - getting the user's
training schedule back on track.
Simon Breakell is the newly appointed Director of Marketing at Fitbug, and he believes
that the new Kiqplan digital training plans can help people to have more fun while running
for a great cause.
"There is absolutely no doubt that the Race for Life has saved countless lives, and
will continue doing so for as long as the generous people of Britain continue to devote
their time, sweat and tears to this fantastic event.
"We wanted to recognise the efforts of fundraisers by developing a reasonably priced
digital training app that gives participants in the Race for Life a fully qualified
personal trainer and dietician in the palm of their hand.
"These two new Kiqplan programmes have the primary aim of getting people to the finish
line in good shape. However, we also wanted them to help people have fun during what is
usually an arduous training schedule, and we believe we have achieved that."
The Race for Life digital coaching plans
[http://www.kiqplan.com/www/partners/r4l/five-and-ten-k-run ] for both the 5K and 10K
events are on sale at the price of GBP4.99. Additionally, 20% of all product sales will be
donated to Cancer Research UK.

World's No.1 Mahjong Game(TM) Comes to Canada First
- 30 million people have enjoyed this relaxing and highly popular web game
- Finally available as an iPad and iPhone App this weekend
- Exclusively launching in Canada first
- Developer is Canadian, and recently relocated his family to Silicon Valley
SAN FRANCISCO, May 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The world's No.1 Mahjong game*, which has entertained more than 30 million people worldwide, is today officially available as an iPad and iPhone app. It is being released exclusively in Canada prior to a general worldwide release. Its creator hails from Toronto.
Mahjong, one of the world's oldest and most popular games, which some say originated as early as 500BC, is hugely popular as a Tile game in China, but is now played by people of all ages from across the world, online. In the last month, almost a million players from 215 countries, have played the game on the publisher's website.
"People have been asking for a mobile version of our Mahjong game for a long time," says Alx Klive, Founder, Affinity Media, publishers of the app and website. "We're thrilled to be bringing it to our friends and family in Canada, before anywhere else."
Alx Klive, who became known in Toronto dance music circles in the early 90s, as a DJ, and the country's first rave promoter, saw opportunities with the Internet early on, and began making websites in 1994 designing CityPulse News first website, and later initiating the world's first online crowdsourcing project - The Millennium Photo Project. Two years ago he spent 3 months driving his family from Toronto to San Francisco in an RV, to make the move to Silicon Valley.
"My wife and I both love Toronto, but the opportunities in Silicon Valley were too good to ignore any longer. It's been a huge move for us, and with our business, but since coming to San Francisco we've had opportunities we wouldn't have had back home. We do miss our friends (...and poutine) though."
The decision to release Original Mahjong(TM) exclusively in Canada, before anywhere else, was an easy one for the couple.
"Mahjong is the first mobile app we've released, and we've seen how other companies have chosen to release apps in Canada as a test market first. We were a bit nervous about... bugs, basically, and we realized if we released it in Canada first, we could get all our friends on Facebook from back home to test it out."
Original Mahjong(TM) is available today for free download, exclusively on the Canadian App Store. It was soft launched earlier this week to friends and family. At the time of writing, it has reached the Top 50 puzzle and strategy games on the Apple App Store**. An Android version is in the works for later this year.
For a limited time, while exclusively available in Canada, a 'hidden' price cut is in effect for in-app purchases. Users can get a reduced price ($1-2 off) at checkout, and should ignore the regular price shown.
Affinity Media is an independent and privately owned digital publishing and online advertising company, which develops websites and apps reaching 5 million unique users each month. One of the top 1000 website networks in the world, and recently celebrating its 10th Anniversary, Affinity Media has served over 1 billion page views since launch.

FlexEnable Announces Breakthrough in Manufacturability, Cost and Performance for Flexible Displays
CAMBRIDGE, England, May 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
FlexEnable, the leader in the development and industrialisation of flexible
electronics, is announcing a technology breakthrough for the manufacture of full colour,
organic liquid crystal displays (OLCD), making the manufacture of glass-free LCDs both
practical and cost-effective for the first time.
FlexEnable has developed the only technology that enables the manufacture of a TFT
array directly on ultra-low cost plastics such as TAC (tri-acetyl cellulose); the same
films commonly used as a base for polarisers and compensation layers in everyday LCDs,
resulting in the lowest cost process for flexible displays. This is made possible by the
low temperature manufacturing process for the TFT array and will enable better front of
screen performance than amorphous silicon.
The company will be showcasing a full colour, conformal IPS OLCD next week at SID
[http://www.displayweek.org ] in San Jose; a display which is not only light and thin but
also extremely robust. This demonstration of OLCD follows earlier demonstrations of truly
flexible OLED, EPD and image sensors. FlexEnable's suite of capabilities provides display
manufacturers with options to upgrade their existing fabs: the company has created
FabEnable [http://www.flexenable.com/Partnering ], a package of IP and services to
transform the economics of existing fabs, for example by targeting under-utilised
capacity. FlexEnable is already working with display makers to demonstrate the economic
benefits of converting to this truly flexible array technology.
Indro Mukerjee, Chairman FlexEnable said: "By bundling our profound know-how and
experience in the industrialisation of flexible electronics, FlexEnable has created
FabEnable, delivering significant returns to display makers through the upgrade of
conventional FPD lines. We enable FPD manufacturers to upgrade and diversify their
existing lines with truly flexible electronics, bringing transformational economics to the
manufacture of plastic displays in general."
FlexEnable's Strategy Director, Paul Cain, will be speaking in the Wearable-Flexible
Market Focus conference on 4 June.
About FlexEnable
FlexEnable, based in Cambridge, UK, has developed the world's first flexible
transistor technology platform; the key to truly flexible and cost effective electronics
over large and small surfaces. With over a decade of experience, IP development and
technology awards, FlexEnable works together with customers to drive innovation across
flexible sensors, smart systems and video-rate displays. FlexEnable's technology platform
