They just became concerned about this?!! PC manufacturers have been preloading crappy software into their PCs for as long as I can remember. If this was such a problem, why didn't they mention it long ago? Seems to me that Microsoft isn't happy that the PC manufacturers aren't splitting the money that they're making from this. I don't think Vista needs any help showing people what a piece of crap it is. Besides, I don't know about you, but if I were to buy a premanufactured PC, I would do a fresh install of the OS ONLY and get rid of all of that crap that's already in it.......

I think the concern is that they can put the applets onto the install disk and there is no way for an end user to install vista without installing the applets. If there is a conflict with a patch later on the consumer will be phucked.

The customer is screwed anyway since they are running Windows in the first place.

I'll give that a +1. I think it should be the consumer's responsibility to research what's built into the PC before they buy it. I see Microsoft's point, but it's only true because the consumer is uneducated on the subject. But, it's not the PC manufacturer's fault that the consumer doesn't understand that the 3rd party software has nothing to do with the operating system. Nor, should it be the manufacturer's responsibility to educate the consumer. The consumer should just be more careful when purchasing a PC. Anyone who buys a tool that they don't know how to use is an idiot. I would hope that someone who doesn't know how to use a welder wouldn't just buy one and start using it. They would probably just hurt themselves and then blame the manufacturer. I'm surprised that no one has sued Microsoft claiming that it was their vulnerable operating system that caused their identity theft. Or, has that been tried already? I'm going to stop. I think I'm rambling into another subject.
