Xmas sounds like chrsmas...

Some people call it xmas to take away from the Christian part.

Actually, Xmas is derived from the Greek spelling of Christ - Xristos. It has the exact same meaning and pronunciation as the extended Christmas, it's just shorter. It was never intended to take Christ out of Christmas, nor does it really, although I do agree that some people use it for that reason.

The majority (if not all) of the people I know use "Xmas" to simply take Christ out of it all. I don't believe in "Christ", but I also don't care.

Eh, most people I know who use it do it because they're lazy. I don't believe in Christ myself, but I still prefer the extended spelling.
