I don't know about everyone else, but temperatures here rose to 100F today. What do you do to keep cool when it gets that warm? I hung out in a massively air conditioned mall, since I don't have access to a pool at the moment.

The best thing I could do was hang out in the produce cooler of my store, and no one ever likes to go in there, but Saturday it was so hot that if anyone else had seen me dancing around in there, they'd want to join! I was also doing a lot of fronting and facing (bringing products forward so customers can see) in the frozen section, without gloves, and it was so comfortable.

I like to go for a nice, slow run. It improves my stamina and afterwards, I get all chilled.

Air conditioning, ice cubes, eating out and lots of ice cream. If it keeps up I'll gain 10 pounds from all the eating out. And go broke.

We have our air conditioner going, which I hate. I just know my next month's electricity bill is going to be outrageus. I'm NOT looking forward to it. Sad

It's mainly been in the 90's here lately. But I have to walk every where with my 4 and 1 year old. I always have my small cooler with sippy cups and bottles of water in it. It's just going to get hotter this week. This sucks. But that's what happens when you live in the desert.

I doesn't get too hot where I live, probably because I live so close to the ocean that it usually keeps the temperature down. My apartment does get hotter than it is outside, because the building next to us blocks any breeze so we're kinda stuck in a pit of stale air. I usually just use a fan, though, because it doesn't get too hot. Also, we don't have an air conditioner because this building is old and it didn't used to get as hot as it does here.

I did used to live in the desert though, where it'd almost daily reach 120F in the summer. The solution? Swamp coolers. It's like an air conditioner, only better because it's stronger and not nearly as expensive. My mother's room had the swamp cooler and with it running the room turned into a bloody ice box, which is actually really nice in 120F weather. We'd also eat ice cubes... I remember, towards the end of the school year my siblings and I would freeze water bottles to take to school. Even though it would only be about 40 or 50F in the morning, we knew the temperature would skyrocket by noon and be at least 100F and windy, so we'd have some ice water for the walk home. With the cap off, the ice would be completely melted within 5 minutes, it was crazy.
I did really love living in the desert, though. The benefit of it being hot in the desert is that ever store has air conditioning to lure people in (and who would stay in a non air conditioned store in 120F weather?), whereas if it's hot here you're pretty much screwed. Most stores don't have air conditioning here, and even if it did, it tends to get humid. Dry heat > humid heat any day.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

I remember going to California (San Diego) once to see my Aunt, and I was almost cold. She kept telling me to bring shorts and light clothing because it was "soooo hot". There was almost no humidity at all, so I ended up wearing pants.

I just keep the air conditioner in my apartment set to a comfortable temperature. The bill can get heavy very quickly though.

I'm so used to the heat here, I keep cool by driving around with the windows down. I don't like the AC.

I have never heard of a Swamp Cooler before. I can remember visiting Arizona and it was 115 and yes it was a dry heat but it was still hot no matter how you looked at it.

Swamp coolers only work in dry environments. They work by forcing air through sheets covered in water. The air becomes more humid and cooler as a result.

Pool and air conditioner here. An electric rate freeze in effect for years ended in January and my electric bill went up 150% so I'm not looking forward to getting next months bill!
