Don't buy PS3 Old Fri Feb 16, 2007 6:39:39 PM #34186 Perm Link
Do not spend the money on the Playstation 3. I've had mine for 4 Months and it has stopped reading discs. Please spend your money on a 360 or Wii... the PS3 is an oversized piece. On the other hand, I love my Wii, just got the new game Wii Play, and I haven't stopped playing it yet. Sony is a horrible company, I'll keep you guys updated on how Sony deals with this situation, being that its way to late to return it.

Figures. Sony can't make anything right in this day and age.

I plan on getting the next revision of the Wii.

2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!

Thanks for the heads up =D Not that I could ever afford a PS3...XD

Makes sense. We're on our 3rd PS2 and the others died of Disc Read errors, so I'd not surprised the PS3 had the same affliction. Seriously, that seems like the first thing you should work on.

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

Yes, buy an XBox. Everyone knows how well the 360 has been since launch, am I right?
Don't use your isolated incident as a means to blasklist the whole crop of systems.

Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today?
Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.
Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!

As a general rule, never buy the first batch (or even second) of a system. They're almost always defective in some way because testing just doesn't cover the range of wear it can take in peoples homes. It's best to always wait a bit before rushing out to buy a system.

The reason it's probably better to purchase and Xbox now is because it's been out for a year, most major problems have been weeded out or at the least caught, whereas the PS3 has only been out a couple of months and thus prone to problems

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

The PS3 was going to suck as it was. The XBox is only in a slightly better position because it costs less, however; neither of the two systems are really worth the purchase or the title "next gen". The only things these systems bring to the table are improved graphics and things computers have been able to do for years. If you want graphics, you shouldn't be playing a console.

I stand by the statement I have made countless times before; the Wii is the only true next-gen system and the only one I will be spending my money on.

As for my 360... It is a launch date version, and I have NOT had ONE problem with it yet. As for the "wear" on the PS3, I've played it for maybe 10 hours at the most... since its came here. The PS3 is just horrible, the best part is, its extremely available, you can walk into almost any store and pick one up. I am now telling customers to go with Xbox. Even though I am hardly working in the game section anymore. My parents wont let me make a video of me running it over.. so I guess I'll have Sony fix it.

I just love it when people try to use this as a reason to blanket everything else. I myself have a launchdate PS2. I'm probably the only one in the entire country who has not had to fix it. But it still works. So they all must, right? The XBox 360 has been on the market for over a year now and it still suffers from heating problems (though they are less common than originally). The PS3 launched and had just as many, if not less, problems than the 360 had after a year to work out the bugs. Microsoft is redesigning the 360 specifically to end the heating problems, in fact.
So, I say again: DO NOT try to blanket-state the fact that your PS3 broke as an excuse for PS3 unreliability.

So you had a defective one. Whoop-dee-do. I had a defective PS that blew up within 45 minutes of setting it up. Doesn't mean that every single other PS did too.

The best part is, the 360 is just as horrible, even more available and also has the ability for you to walk into any store to pick one up.

I'm thinking of buying my nephews a game console, but honestly I can't decide which one to buy. I guess for the moment, I'll just buy them a couple of games for the computer since that works fine and without any problems! I thought I would find an answer here, but I guess it all depends on the preferences of the user. Also, I believe is too much money for games only! I'll stick with PC games.

No, smartass. A single PS3 is no reason to blanket state that they are all unreliable.

Ive had my 360 for close to a year now nad not many problems with it, iI purchased a Fan-Stand and that takes care of the overheating, sometimes I get a Disk read error but not often and sometiimes i get disconnected from x-box live other than that I love my console.

Honestly i think PS3 is overpriced, but im sure that'll change soon aside from that its awesome. But of course Ps3 will most likly have better games imo. For now i'd suggest buying 360 its been around for a while so its got a lot of games, not to mention its not as expensive and just a little bit more than the wii (which i didnt really care for.. the wii's graphics were meh, and the control being orignal is kinda lame imo.) I just have a 360 i love it! I plan on picking up a ps3 somtime.

It would be more interesting if we were talking about bombs, although ASE would then be investigated and called a "terrorist threat" or something stupid like that.

It's also the problem that the versions of the Playstations that come out first, they still have some bugs that need to be fixed, but people will just by them off the shelf without even caring. I only know this because ours died after a while, and we only had it for a bit of time. Experience helps, people say.

I didn't have much luck with my Playstation or my PS2, so I probably won't be buying a PS3, my brother however has had no problem with his. I like playing the system, I just can't justify shelling out that kind of money for any console right now
