So what do you think is the best decade of music?

Fifties?
Sixties?
Seventies?
Eighties?
Nineties?

I'm gonna say 70s as well.

Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today?
Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.
Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!

I have to agree that the 70s was a fantastic decade for music. However, I was born in 1971, and thus mainly grew up listening to the 80s, and this decade is near and dear to my heart. Thus, I have to say that my *favorite* decade for music was the 80s. Duran Duran, GnR, Bryan Adams, Journey... love them all. There was quite a variety of genre during this time!

I was born in the 60s, so I grew up listening mainly to 70s music. I was totally into disco music, and when I was 15, Saturday Night Fever was "THE MOVIE" to see and learn all the steps. But as a grew older, I found that I love music from the 60s and even some of the 50s! The Beatles definetly a big favorite for me. Then, I found the 80's Spanish Rock and really got into it, just with the names of the groups back then, it was something so different! So, I guess the late 60's and 70s are my favorite years in American music.

Wow, what a great question. I guess I would have to pick the eighties, though too much contemplation could easily change this answer

Those last three posts are too close to each other and just seem fake to me.
BTW, I also like the 50s and 60s.

I would have to say the 70's also. I love Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen... Just all those bands. Led Zeppelin would have to be my favorite.

What is fake about my answer? I do enjoy 70s music, but the 80s was the decade that had the greatest influence on my life. I was age 9-19 in the 80s, so that music truly shaped who I am as a person. Even now, I find myself tuning to 80s stations because of how much I love the music. Yes, the 80s has to take credit for the awful big hair bands... but, still a fantastic decade.
I am just wondering what about my answer seems fake.

Your answer: Well, that's not the point. You just haven't seen this other thread that was very similar...but evil.

I grew up primarily in the 90's, and none of that music shaped who I was. At all.

I like the 70's. Queen = awesome.

My favourite decade of music would be the 70s, too. I think most of us lean towards the music we grew up with.

There were some interesting topics being written about that resulted in songs like "Ohio", "Southern Man", "Sweet Home Alabama" and "American Woman."

I'm partial to the eighties myself though i think a lot of the guitar players in the eighties were incredibly influenced by their seventies predecessors. Although now that I'm thinking about it how can you say Hendrix and Zeppelin weren't among the greatest? I'm not sure I can narrow it down to just one decade- they all built on each other!

I think the 70's was a really good foundation. But the 80's was where innovation was really good. Not saying that the innovation in the 70's was bad, but just good enough to create an excellent foundation.

I like the music from the 60s to the late 90s. Almost any music after 1999 is pure crap.

I'd like to interject:
One.
Two.
Three.

Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.
