Nintendo gets sued over Wiimote

Interlink, a Los Angeles-based company specializing in remote controls and electronic-signature technology, filed suit in a federal district court in Delaware on December 4, claiming that Nintendo's Wii Remote violates its "Trigger Operated Electronic Device" patent (U.S. patent No. 6,850, 221). Interlink claimed that Nintendo's sale of the device, nicknamed the Wiimote, has caused the company to lose profits and royalties.

Interlink isn't in the same market as Nintendo and there have been triggers on controls for much longer than this has been filed.

Nintendo should counter sue them for infringement on the Duck Hunt gun...

...and for that matter I've seen wireless presentation mouse gadgets with triggers for mouse buttons before, I think Ive got one burried in a closet somewheres, it even has a laser pointer built in.

So, why aren't they suing Microsoft, Sony, Sega, Konami, Namco and Mad Katz as well?

There is no way in hell this lawsuit has any merit. 1996: nintendo releases n64 with z button on controller 1997: these douchebags make thier mouse pointer thing.

Y'know, patents are supposed to be a good thing but all they ever seem to do is cause problems that don't need to happen.

Why didn't Interlink notice this similarity to their product during the extremely publicized hype about the style of the controller, which must've been at least a year ago?

Also - the Wiimote is trigger-operated?

Huh? Signature? What's going on with that signature?

I have been waiting for this day to happen. I mean everyone has been throwing the wii remote into their tv. It is pretty funny really.

And yes, the Wiimote has a trigger on the bottom of it.
