So your parents wouldn't let you play it because of an ESRB rating? Having controlling parents sucks huh?

I have heard that it sucks ass big time.

And I do not like parents that follow ESRB ratings. I do believe that they should be used as guidelines, but parents should read the box rather than just follow what the ESRB says, as they think that if you are mature enough to play Halo, you are mature enough to play GTA.

Not to derail this thread: I don't agree with parents following ratings either. Do your job as a parent and do some research. Don't let others do it for you.

I can't believe that this game gets a very poor rating. It looks awesome... plus the Wii!

Honestly, I can believe that it sucks. If they were to implement a light gun correctly, that would be one thing, but the way that it functions is confusing to me, as well as (from what I have heard) very hard to use.

My parents think that, some of the things in the game could effect me.ha! and i saw a ad on t.v. showing a guy playing red steel with motion sensers remote, like you can actualy move you hand to fire guns and fight with swords.

The gameplay is hard and that's the reason it's getting bad reviews. In theory it is sweet to think about walking around and letting your gun be motion activated. The last time I was able to do that I was in an arcade or playing Duck Hunt. However, the reason that Red Steel is having trouble where arcade shooters and Duck Hunt prevailed is because there is an issue with movement. In all arcade shooters the movement and shooting is done on the screen with all the camera angles pre-decided, however, with the wii and the wiimote you are actually in control of the camera. Imagine aiming toward the side of the screen and then having to switch the camera angle and re-situate yourself.

I've heard the swordplay is very scripted as well which is a disappointment but haven't gotten far enough into the game to actually decide whether the it is actually worth while. I expect the first few moves you learn to be scripted, however; I would hope as the game progresses you are allowed more freedom to explore the full capabilities of the wii's motion activated wiimote.

Oh, I spent all of sunday playing it and a few other games (Wii Sports FTMFW!). The sword play is decent enough, but the gunplay is just awful.

Michael: Jodie, how's my schedule look for today?
Jodie: You've got a conference and dinner party at the Japanese Embassy regarding wildlife protection.
Michael: Oh, yeah...sorry, but I'll have to cancel that. I'm heading out to save America!

Im suprised, I thought it would be the other way around, I mean, a gun is not that hard to aim, but doing sword slashes would be tough...

They screwed up the gun? That's Nintendo's thing, though! Duck Hunt!

How is it screwed up?

Well really, it was Ubisoft that makes Red Steel, not Nintendo.

Now that I think about it, I am suprised that Nintendo did not make a light gun for the n64... they had it down on the NES, and a Time Cop or HOTD or Area 51 game would have rocked on N64 or even Gamecube.
