I couldn't believe how fake it looked when Chancellor Palpatine took off his rubber mask and revealed himself to the Jedi.

So getting back to Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.

What I loved about it?

1. Lightsaber battles kicked ass, but I still think the Darth Maul duel with Obi Wan was incredible.
2. All the action scenes were pretty cool.
3. How Anakin gets taken out by Obi Wan. I didn't expect that to happen like that.
4. All the loose story ends tied up for the most part. A great way to end the series.
5. The emperor, Obi Wan and Yoda were great characters. Anakin was good, but his acting still seems a little stiff here and there, but much better this time around.

What I would've liked to see:

1. More Darth Vader in uniform, battling with his red saber for the first time against a jedi. Darth Vader wins, end the film.
2. Start Episode 1 with Revenge of the Sith, then progress 2 and 3 focusing on Darth Vader, the forming of the Rebellion, younger versions of Luke, Leia and Han Solo.
3. The conversion of Anakin to Darth Vader was good, but flashbacks(from previous prequels) in his head, at the moment of turning to the dark side would've really helped me believe it more. It was such a pivotal moment, but it felt underplayed to me.

Overall, Revenge of the Sith kicks some butt. I did notice the prequels are lacking the looseness of the Trilogy characters. Prequel characters feel stiff, Trilogy characters are more expressive, break each others chops and don't feel like they're reading lines.

I loved Natalie Portman's acting. She was like omg I'm soooo sad and I'm all omg I totally feel for u....lolol.

Yeah she definately didn't convince me she was sad.

But, this movie was good. Best line, hands down:

Good relations with the Wookies, I have.

George Lucas must've put some kind of "acting" restraints on the younger actors or something, cause few of them were believable. The little kid Anakin wasn't very good, too wooden in his responses and expressions. Then again, maybe the dialog doesn't help?
Padme could've loosened up more. I've seen her act in other movies, and she's not half as bad as she is in Star Wars. I don't get it...
Maybe George was too controlling as a director. Blocking out every move they made. That'll stiffen an actor up, unless they're skilled to begin with, like the roles of Yoda, Obi Wan, James Earl Jones, the Emperor, Han Solo, Leia, Liam Neeson, etc.

I just saw it as well. I was more impressed with it than the first two. It is on par with Jedi, but it doesn't come close to Empire.

Anakin's descent into the dark side was abrupt, not easy. All of a sudden, he just accepted it.

Also, when he became metal leather suit Vader, he started crushing everything in the room (including the room itself) when he found out that Padme died. If he had that much power then, why didn't he take over? Lots of questions still.

he didnt need to take over - the emperor wanted the same things he did and basically told him to run the whole show - it's not necessary

PS at least the emperor's master created anniken and not the lame Jesus reference that was in ep: 1

The movie on a whole was very good, I just wish that George Lucas would let someone else direct because the entire cast with the exception of Ewan MacGregor didn't get their parts right. I almost cried when I heard Anakin say "We're coming in too hot" at the beginning of the movie with about as much enthusiasm as Bob Newhart in a coma. (I hope that reference isn't lost on any young people, Bob Newhart was the absolute king of deadpan humor.) The rest of the movie was filled with similar moments, all capped off by an incredibly juvenile "NOOOOOOOOOO!" from the perfect "bad ass" Darth Vader at the end of the movie. I also thought that Samuel L. Jackson missed the point of his part, and maybe he was even miscast in the role. While I think he is a great actor and I love his persona onscreen, I don't think that a Jedi master should have the "hardcore bad ass" persona that he brought to the role. He always seemed to be mad, he spoke down to Anakin many times throughout the movie, and this isn't how the Jedi is supposed to behave. I was very impressed with the special effects and I was at least mostly happy with the plot as it was delivered. Overall I agree with Aron's point of view, it's probably equal to Jedi, but not as good as Star Wars and Empire crushes it.

I enjoyed Episode III and felt that it was overall worth my time and money. The only reason I was even remotely interested in Episode I was because I thought Padme Amidala's costumes were wicked cool and I wanted to know the history, however sickening it was to watch Jake Lloyd act. Episode II was utterly dissapointing, perhaps even more so then Episode I. Padme is how many years older then Anakin? Episode III rocked my face off. *screams* He killed the younglings! That bastard!
I think it actually rivalled Episode V. But nothing can ever beat Episode IV.

lol...is that possible? These days I believe so.

Back to the topic at hand. I saw Episode III and I thought it was great. Anyone who does not appreciate or even like ANY or ALL of the Star Wars movies is not a true Star Wars fan and needs not to discuss it.
I have two boys ages 8 and 11 and they like Star Wars(new hope) and Empire Strikes backmuch better than any of them...and they didn't see them until after they saw Episodes I and II.
I grew up on Star Wars and in my opinion, George Lucas is a brilliant Director. What a great story.

What made Episode III for me was the fact that it wasn't so "good" all the time. They finally brought some real evil back into the story and it opened up an entirely different set of emotional responses while watching the film that I haven't felt since Empire, and that is why I think this movie ranks right behind Empire and New Hope.
